NOTE: Another reeeeeeaaaally long chapter. Longer than the last warning. At least this one is mostly action.
Chapter 11: Devestation
Smokin' Assassin leaped out and looked to his left to see Bulet struggling on the ground under AppleCore, desperately weaving his head between AppleCore's punches while shooting him as much as possible with an Uzi.
Smokin' Assassin looked on his other side to see the Brawlers making their way out of the building... along with that same herd of zombies and Robos crowding around them all.
Nekrozoa was right behind the door, hiding his cure behind the wall inside. Captain Chip raised his M4 again and rushed at AppleCore. Ruby was ready in a fighting position, Blue started to throw his sheep bombs, and Swordkill revved up his chainsaw sword.
Smokin' Assassin lastly pulled out his machete. This is gonna be fun...
The zombies ran closer and closer. Captain Chip was firing at AppleCore's back clips at a time. When AppleCore finally took notice, it stood and shot a glare at Captain Chip. It angrily stopped forward and away from Bulet, seemingly unaware of the fact Captain Chip was filling him with enough lead to kill a bull elephant. Captain Chip slowly stepped back as he fired, but AppleCore was closing in faster than he backed up. When Captain Chip was reloading his gun, AppleCore pulled its arm back and slammed the front of its fist into Captain Chip's face, tumbling him through the air back at the other Brawlers.
Bulet, slightly dazed, stood up and spawned an RPD. Pulling the trigger, he shot the heavy machine-gun rounds at AppleCore. AppleCore, in a rage, spun back to look at Bulet, leaped step-by-step at him, and pinned Bulet to the ground. Bulet's weapon flew through the air while AppleCore grasped onto Bulet's head and started to pull.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, the zombies were closing in like a school-full of students crowding in to view a fist fight in the halls. Blue's bombs were being shot in one after the other. Robos swiftly weaved between them, but each bomb managed to at least disable some of the zombies. Sheep looked exhausted from producing so many bombs, but never stopped throwing.
Zylix shot his lingo at as much of the crowd as possible. In the chaos, many of the shots were poorly aimed, but they at least struck a zombie in the chest, toppling it over. Robos gained ground faster than anything else.
No matter what anyone did, however, the mass never ceased closing in on their prey. Zombies have spread to form a semi-circle around the Brawlers. Only Zylix, John, and Blue could attack from long-range, so they threw as much firepower at the incoming zombies as they could possibly managed. Zylix and John went strong for the longest. Blue had spawned enough bombs so that his lack of energy made standing a struggle. Ruby eventually had to help him hobble back inside to rest, but she was immediately back outside to see the zombie herd close in another 15 or so yards.
Nekrozoa rushed outside, pistol in hand, when he saw Captain Chip skid across the ground, knocking Smokin' Assassin off of his feet. Right after, that same muffled roar sounded from far ways back. Nekrozoa looked to see both where the noise originated. He saw a proud and angry AppleCore raising its right arm high in the air, holding a decapitated head with shocked, red eyes.
AppleCore threw the head at the engaged Brawlers and rushed forward. Swordkill noticed the looming beast and turned to face it. Sword purring, Swordkill ran head-on at the enraged AppleCore. Swordkill started spun to swing his heavy sword, but AppleCore slid to avoid the strike. Swordkill swung his sword again to nip AppleCore in one of its triceps. While the sword revved in AppleCore's arm, it used the other arm to grab Swordkill by his neck.
AppleCore lifted the strangled Swordkill in the air by his throat. Swordkill managed to raise his sword up high with crowded arms and smash the blade into AppleCore's iron-hard head. AppleCore ignored the blade slowly working its way through its cranium. It looked at the desperate Swordkill, now struggling for air, and squeezed its fist harder around Swordkill's jugular. Captain Chip finally stood to see what was happening. He reloaded his M4 and shot at AppleCore's frame once more. Smokin' Assassin joined him in the assault. He ran at AppleCore as fast as he could with machete in hand. Zylix, Ruby, Quickfeet, John, and Nekrozoa were left alone to fight against the oncoming hoard.
Captain Chip ran at AppleCore as he fired, but once he got close enough, AppleCore leaned back and shoved his foot into Captain Chip's chest, knocking him out cold. The sudden shift in frame caused Swordkill's blade to lose its grip in AppleCore's head, but before Swordkill could strike again he was thrown into the building's wall with an extreme amount of force. Smokin' Assassin leaped up and stabbed AppleCore in its forhead... but to no avail. AppleCore, now mad as ever, grabbed Smokin' Assassin's arms with on of its arms and his waist with the other. Smokin' Assassin screamed loudly with the severe amount of pain, but immediately stopped when a disgusting and thick ripping noise could be heard all around.
AppleCore stomped his way to the unconscious Captain Chip when a flying kick sent him reeling back, clutching its mangled face in pain.
Ruby stood in front of the defenseless Captain Chip. "You stay away from him, you bastard!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One Robo worked its way up to the warring Brawlers not involved with AppleCore's destruction. When the Robo raised its weapon at John, Nekrozoa clutched on its back and grabbed its head. Some sort of greenish gas combined with what looked like lightning creeped from the vein on his wrist and forced its way into the Robo's brain. Nekrozoa leaped off to watch the Robo's circuitry burst with an array of sparks inside its head.
John was shooting rays at any inhuman thing that moved in front of him. One large multicolored ray worked its way through the head of one Robo and a couple of zombies behind it. Zylix's lingo was more miss than hit, but when it did hit, it was devastating to the zombie's head. Nekrozoa was desperately firing 9mm rounds at the far-off zombies when he looked back to see Ruby in a karate match with the pissed-off AppleCore while Captain Chip struggled in the dirt trying to regain himself.
"You guys hold here!" he told John and Zylix. "I'll be right back!" The other two Brawlers didn't seem to hear him, but Nekrozoa ran inside regardless. Next to the heavily-breathing Blue, he leaned over into the box of cure.
"How you guys doin'?" Blue panted.
Nekrozoa was preparing a syringe of cure. "Uh... I won't lie. We could be doing better."
Blue looked at the wall on the other side, still breathing hard. "Damn..."
Nekrozoa ran back outside holding his syringe. He dashed into the AppleCore scene to find a confused Captain Chip, a halved Smokin' Assassin, Swordkill unmoving against a wall, and Ruby sparring against the zombie leader.
Nekrozoa picked up his pace and ran around the two fighting. Now behind AppleCore, Nekrozoa raised his hand up and booked it at AppleCore. He jumped in the air and used AppleCore's stubs of wings as leverage. Nekrozoa quickly stabbed the syringe into AppleCore's neck and fell off when AppleCore shook in retaliation. Out of sheer luck, Nekrozoa ducked under AppleCore's spinning arms.
Ruby, now panting at the ground, bracing herself on her knees, watched with Nekrozoa as AppleCore stumbled while grabbing its head. From behind them, you could see John and Zylix being surrounded at all sides by the hoard. It seemed that the Robos were all gone, but there were no guarantees as of yet.
AppleCore regained its balance finally and gave Nekrozoa a deadly stare between the arms clutching its head. In one last-ditch effort, AppleCore leaped at Nekrozoa only to fall flat on its face. It gave off one soft, desperate roar and then slipped into unconsciousness.
Nekrozoa breathed a sigh of relief. In a sudden realization, Nekrozoa ran back at the zombies to help out his comrades. Ruby was soon to follow, along with Captain Chip, who finally regained his momentum.
The zombies were close enough now to give only about 30 feet of free movement around John and Zylix, who were struggling to keep off the zombies. Nekrozoa pulled out his pistol and shot into the crowd. Some of the zombies eased on John and Zylix to attack Nekrozoa and Ruby. Captain Chip was catching up wtih the two, but was still not steady enough to shoot accurately.
Something rushed at Nekrozoa inparticular. It pinned him down on the ground with some kind of black pole. Nekrozoa looked down his body to see the thing's feet: one of which was missing a shoe.
He looked up to see a girl with long, brown hair and a huge, green tophat hissing at him. She was about to bite him when a massive sword swung in the air and through her neck, bringing the head to the ground. Swordkill, bloodied and bruised, looked down at his kill in sadness and shock.
Nekrozoa managed to get up and started shooting at the zombies with what little ammo he had left. Ruby, seizing the moment, started to fight the zombies with the girl's scythe she left behind. Not too skilled with it, but she thought it worked better than just punches and kicks.
The zombies never seemed to end. No matter how many they killed, the Brawlers still had more to deal with. For every dead zombie, it seemed like there were 2 live ones.
"Son of a bitch!" Zylix screamed. "There's just so many of them!!!"
"But there's no way out!" Captain Chip screamed while blasting at the zombies around him. The zombies have formed 2 circles, a figure 8, around 2 groups of Brawlers: John, Quickfeet, and Zylix; and Nekrozoa, Ruby, Captain Chip, and Swordkill. Luckily, none of the zombies noticed the smashed-in door where Blue was hiding.
"Chip!" Nekrozoa screamed. "Make me a path! I'm gonna grab Blue and the cure, then we're outta here!"
Captain Chip aimed at zombies next to the building. Swordkill kept the side zombies at bay along with Ruby and her new scythe. They could see John and Zylix's rays getting bigger and bigger, trying to hold off the zombies. Ruby, seeing the specticle, let the others know she was going to help John and Zylix. She swung the scythe around as to make a path to the other two.
Something came whistling through the air. It slammed into the ground and let off a huge explosion, blasting zombies high into the air. Another object whistled off and did the same. Followed by a third. Now the entire side of the zombie mass by the buidling's door was completely cleared off.
Softly but distinctly, there was a "Take that, you mother fuckers!" coming from one of the buildings. Nekrozoa looked at a near-by building's 10-story roof to see a blue figure holding an M16 with a grenade launcher on to it. Next to him, of all people, was another person with a black cloth covering the bottom of his face, holding a katana.
Swordkill saw the two and waved at them. "You guys freaking rock!"
Yacazuma yelled back at them. "You can thank us later!" Yacazuma jumped off the building and leaped to the ground while Rageblood yelled something else.
"I'll cover you guys up here! If you ever need someone to save your miserable asses, just call me!"
Yacazuma jumped and dash across the ground into the zombies, starting to slice his way to John and Zylix. Even though the crowd of zombies was still huge, they were vastly weakened. Captain Chip covered Nekrozoa as he ran back inside to the cure.
Nekrozoa secured everything in the box. Blue was still looking tired, but not as much anymore.
"What was that outside?" Blue asked.
Nekrozoa threw Blue on his back and carried the box under his left arm. "Rageblood and Yacazuma decided to show up."
"Rageblood and who now...?"
"Yeah, I know. I chose not to question it."
Nekrozoa was about to step out with Blue on his shoulders when something rumbled above them. Nekrozoa ran outside, back into the miniature war outside. All the Brawlers, except for Rageblood (who was still on that roof), were now huddled together. Somehow, they managed to work out a path through the zombies.
Nekrozoa looked up overhead to see what was causing the rumbling, which was getting louder and louder. Like a mole poking through its hole, the cause of the noise showed itself from the shade of the building's top.
It was large and circular. Mostly black in color, but showed a few green lights as it appeared to Nekrozoa. As it made its way, it blew the air below it all around, creating a helicopter-like whirlwind effect for the Brawlers below it. Yacazuma looked up in horror at the sight.
"Move! Move! Get the hell out of here!!!"
Rageblood could be seen unmounting an RPG. From where the Brawlers were standing, he looked as scared as Yacazuma. Rageblood, in futility, shot the grenade at the large craft. And explosion pinged off the side of it, but with no effect. By this time, everyone was running safely through the gap in the the zombie mob. Nekrozoa looked back to see something glow a very bright green on the ship's front. Rageblood was looking around desperately. Seeing nothing to help him, he laid over and covered his head.
The large glow on the front of the ship condensed and shot a huge laser at the side of the building on which Rageblood stood. A huge chunk fell in rubble on to the ground below. The weight of the top brought this Jenga tower crumbling to the concrete and asphault on the ground, bringing Rageblood with it.
The other Brawlers kept running. Ruby looked back at the gravesite behind them, stopping in amazement. She was eventually pulled along with the rest of the group by Swordkill and they all were running along with each other. From behind them, the zombies were wandering around, wondering what was happening, and the large thing in the sky dropped more Robos to the ground.
Nekrozoa was running next to John, Blue angled so that he was facing him.
Blue started to whisper to John. "John... John... I remember something."
John was panting as he ran. "Oh, yeah...? What is that?"
"That thing back there..." Blue started. "That's the thing I was imprisioned on..."
