Chapter Six: The Search for the Brawlers Part 2: Darkness Rabies
TIME REMAINING: 490 HOURS
It's been a few hours since me and Kev quickly exited the coliseum. Although neither of us sustained any injuries, Kev's headband got a bit bloodstained. But, you can't really see it, so I guess it didn't matter. Anyway, we rested up a bit by sneaking into the Hospital. They really have comfortable mattresses, and televisions! TV in bed rocks.
I flicked on the news to see what was going on in the world. Three major fights scheduled for Tuesday, Balto and SheepShifer still going at it, Jacob runs wildly naked outside, the usual. One thing struck me as unusual. I was watching the news story about Jacob, and my eye suddenly caught my name at the edge of the ticker. I didn't know what was up, because that was the end of the headline. I paid no attention to it, and fell asleep.
A few hours later, Kev busted into my hospital room, a serious look on his face.
"There's someone at the main Hospital entrance! He's looking for you!"
"Calm down, Kev. Who is it? Maybe it's an ally."
"It's Balto!"
I suddenly froze. Could Balto have found out about my journey? Was he here to stop it? I couldn't think. I couldn't move.
"We-we-we..." I stuttered. "We need to find a back exit. Quickly!"
Both of us dashed out of the hospital room, to find a window that we could jump out of. While rushing around a corner, Kev slammed right into Ruby, who was delivering a tray of chocolate pudding to our now vacant room. Kev scraped the pudding off of his face, and we both dived out the open window. Kev should really apologize to Ruby later.
While Kev landed perfectly on the ground, I landed on the inside of a cold, dark, dirty dumpster. I was then knocked out. When I awoke, I found a three month old banana peel had landed on my head. Nasty.
Suddenly, in a flash of glowing orange, the banana peel was snatched right off my head. It almost took my hat with it. That would of made me cry.
In the opposite corner of the dumpster, I heard a sound like a monster chomping on food, which in this case was that banana peel. I called out to it, seeing as I could not see in front of me. It was a very dark dumpster.
"Any one there?"
"Mumble... Groan"
I lit a piece of paper that was on the floor of the dumpster, to use as a match. I could see what was making that noise. It looked like a blond-haired stick man. But how could he make those noises?
I tried to crawl over to him to ask him who he was, seeing as I never have seen him around the City before, but before I could get close enough, two tentacle things seemed to jet from his back; one orange, one blue. I ran back to my side of the dumpster, taking out my bag of Candy. The blue being snatched the bag, and the orange one dived in and grabbed a piece. Before I could yell, the orange creature devoured the candy, wrapper and all.
The monsters threw the bag of six pieces of candy back at me. I shoved the satchel back into my pocket as soon as I got it. Suddenly, the tentacles got stiff. Both of them, plus the stick figure, began to have a seizure-like thing, much like Kev did earlier. The apparitions disappeared, and the stick figure stood up.
"Who are you?" I asked him
"What? Where am I?" He asked me back.
"You're in a dumpster."
"Oh yeah, I was injured during a fight, and they ran out of room in the Hospital. They threw me in here. I'm Darkness Rabies. But you can call me DR for short."
"So... DR. What the crap were those things that attacked my hat?"
"Oh, these?" The two creatures reappeared on DR's back. "These are my symbiotes. This one over here is called Blue Eyes," he pointed to the blue-streaked one. "and this one," he paused. "Well, I don't have a name for the orange one yet. Still thinking of one." The orange symbiote sighed.
I then told him about this journey I was sent on. He agreed to help out.
"Great! Now, for one more thing. How the hell do we get out of this dumpster?" I asked.
We had to call Kev for assistance. Who builds a dumpster with seven foot high walls?!
