I hated FF12, I have FF10 and it's okay.
Then I 'borrowed' FF7 for the PC, and it's absolutely great.
Discuss.

I've been meaning to buy an FF game for years now.
Maybe I'll actually do it sometime soon...

Yea, i heard FF7 was the best and from there on eehh... Wrong. Completely and totally wrong. FF7 just has the most fanboys. 8 and 10 were also very good. Haven't played past that.

Final Fantasy 1. That's right. You mean real FF1? Cause if so, I agree.

You=total fanboy. FF7 was in no way that much better than any of the other relatively popular games in the series. In fact, I'm a little pissed at it cause it was so hyped that I believe my personal favorite, FF8, didn't get all the recognition that I think it deserved. Don't get me wrong; It's a good game. It's just way overrated.

I'm on disc 2 of FFIX and I have to say I love the characters in this game more than any other Final Fantasy I've played. Not the designs necessarily (whose idea was it to make Kuja the offspring of David Bowie and an extremely flamboyant Sephiroth?), but the personalities and character development of each. Zidane's suaveness and charisma easily beat out Squall's "..." nonsense, and Princess Garnet is the first female lead in a Final Fantasy game I've played that hasn't pissed me off since the White Mage in FFI (at least, I think the White Mage was female). The battle system still uses that slow-as-balls ATB crap, unfortunately, and I didn't like "trance" as much as FFVIII's Over Limits, but I definitely enjoy this game a ton and will probably actually finish it this time (I'm notorious for getting close to the end and losing interest).

This isn't the boss of the game, but a UBER boss that you could fight later on. There’s a floating chokobow island in one of the seas, you'll see the shadow. go up to it and try to make you way to the small island separated from the rest of it, you'll see the acclamation mark come up, you'll then be able to fight this giant ball thing that'll rape your characters 50 time over. It took me like 10 or so tries to kill him off when all of my guys were at lv 90 +
He uses an attack called Dooms day with is fucking powerful, hits everything on the map, you can learn this attack, I forget where you get it, but I think it's somewhere near the boss of the game. If you don’t have the right equipment on, it's suicidal using that attack.
Its a giant asteroid falling from the sky.

*chocobo seriously isn't final fantasy like 50% text? Yea, I forgot how to spell their name. Does that matter? it's the story line that counts. and only the old ones. Newer ones have them talking at points, like FF12.

*chocobo seriously isn't final fantasy like 50% text? Sure, Final Fantasy is text, but the only one I've played that overdoes it is IX. Even if it is text, just enjoy the game. "I know gamers out there don't have a lot of patience these days, at least that's what Bishop, the guy at the video store says..." ~ Travis Touchdown. Really, I think Suda was onto something. I seem to hear off and on again about days where stuff like Earthbound, Final Fantasy, and overall most video games contained excellently long story lines chock full of text, stuff like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter that had piles of codes and moves to learn, and overall a grateful experience where minds and attention spans were exercised from older gamers and even some friends who share my disposition Now, all I hear (not from you specifically) is gamers whine about how old games are boring because you aren't blowing stuff up every five seconds, there isn't a boss fight right around the corner, or there's alternate endings instead of five different achievements for accomplishing something. I'm really getting sick of it- First Person Shooters have truly degraded the gamer genepool, I think. Nobody is patient anymore, everybody neeeds the new thing and the best graphics and action, few care for the interesting, more creative, less fluid, obscure, and overall less generic stuff. There's no room for "thinking about the story" anymore, sure gameplay is the left hand of a video game and without both hands you don't have a game, but if FF can be criticized or neglected due to storyline and dialogue content meant to further input you into/enhance and/or enrich the game world, then what's the point of even bothering with a story. You could give a gamer a gun, put some Nazis in his way, and make millions. No extra levels, no plot, no background history, no items. You just shoot and shoot, and you don't even have a hud to read. RPGs are evolving, sure, but how long until they die out? Admittedly, I can't even really stand to play the FFs I possess, 7,8, and 9. But its mainly because I play them on a PS3 and the settings aren't regulated to handle PS1 STANDARDS, in addition to my own recent neglect of video games.

I just started FFIV, and I gotta say, it's not as compelling as the other ones I've played. I haven't gotten very far yet (Rosa just joined my party), but I wanna say the other ones got interesting much earlier.

the boss isn't the main badguy. The main character's brother is the main bad guy...
the boss of the game is named Zeromus.
though the trailer the game is awesome.
