So... new guy! Act surprised! If you don't I'll hate you forever. Sandstorm showed me this and I'd like to have something to practice my artings in, and drawing figures is my bad side so I joined up and now I have a single brawler I guess. Informal? Yes, but I can't make with the thinking too well right now. Main BrawlersName: Yallen Powers: Yallen is a Shadowcaster, by Dungeons and Dragons standards. He controls shadows, or more precisely, pure negative energy. It will manifest itself in many ways, depending on how I want to do it, although it is always dark purple. It can manifest as lightning, fire, crystals, you name it. Now, being that it is PURE NEGATIVE ENERGY, there are a few properties that are associated with it. - On contact with a brawler, drains the energy of the one being attacked. Yallen is immune to this.
- On contact with organic material OR once the brawler in question is dead, it starts decomposing the material. Yallen is also immune to this.
- On contact with inorganic material, it will slowly disintegrate the material. Guess what? He's immune to this, too!
Other tidbits: - Yallen never has to eat (no poopy!), drink (no pee!), or sleep because of his connection with the "shadows".
Weaknesses: Yallen is weak to anything anyone normal is weak to, in addition to light in general. Be it holy or not, he hates the stuff. Bright sunlight is painful, but tolerable for up to an hour. Normal sunlight he can tolerate for half a day. Anything dimmer than such (a very cloudy day, foggy day, indoor light) he can tolerate indefinitely. Much like you and I can! Holy light (typically it's technically pure positive energy) hurts him. A lot. Resistances: Yallen's not really resistant to anything beyond humans. He's typically either immune or it hurts him just as much, or lots more. Notes: These are details, I'll get to them later. >_>; Secondary BrawlersShittin' out concepts here. Taryn T. Lambert - "Tarantula" Inspired by my dancing to Pendulum's Tarantula "Tarantula" is a musical genius gifted with an expertise in musical arts of all kinds. She excels in slow, melodic songs that lure people (mainly men) into a false sense of security, as well as lulling them to sleep. She also has obvious spider powers (climbing, fangs, paralyzing bite, webs, et cetera). Although she is obviously part spider, she did not inherit the exoskeleton, just the legs (which have their own exoskeleton, but that's it), eyes, and fangs (she waxes often, so no hair on the legs, either). Because of this and her prefered methods of attack, she is weak in direct combat of any sort - physical, magical, explosive, etc.,. "Fun" BrawlersText description: Name: "Satoshi" (McJ complained so I decided to change it) Age: 18 Features: Base Fullbody: The hat seen in the image sits atop a mess of short, spiky black hair. Sideburns extend down his cheeks, and he has a small black goatee. He wears a blue vest over a forest green T-shirt. His lower half is adorned with blue jeans and sneakers. Base Stick: Black line, white head, with the hat seen in the image, occasionally with hair. Modified Stick: To be posted at the beginning of the brawl after number has been chosen. Power: Red is the ultimate Pokémon Master. Having spent over eight years training and growing close to Pokémon as a whole, he is the only person alive to say he has truly mastered them. He is able to randomly chose and transform into a Pokémon. He is able to use every move from their learned moveset as of generation 4, and usually rather effectively. Special cases: In the rare case that Red transforms into a mimic Pokémon like Ditto or Smeargle, he merely transforms into his opponent and uses the same moves they do (for ditto, it is a purple copy that uses all the same moves, for Smeargle, he gains the hat and brush, but retains his own looks while using the powers of his opponent). Personality: Currently undecided. History: Raised in a small town by his mother. He never knew his father, and his mother never speaks of him. At the age of ten, he was given his first Pokémon and set the task of catching all known 151. He succeeded, to a degree, unable or unwilling to catch many of the unique, legendary Pokémon. At no more than 11 years old, he moved to the Johto region, aiming to catch the rest of of the 251 Pokémon. Over the next two years, he caught them all (save the uniques, again), hiding away in a reclusive cave to train. He later moved to Hoenn for the next 135, and then to Sinnoh for the final 118. He spent the final years, back in the depths of Mt. Silver, training. His training eventually blew a hole in a cave wall, revealing a portal to the Void. He came through, and found his Pokémon merged with his being. A stick figure to come, since that'd be easier for everyone. Also, hi. ;D

Everything looks pretty cool, but keep in mind you can edit your posts, so feel free to add in new additions to your original post whenever you have a new character come to mind, aight?
Welcome to brawl; you look like you have a lot of potential.

New characters! Currently in concept stage only for the fact THAT I HAVEN'T FUCKING DRAWN THEM YET. But here's a size-comparison of them! Jack and Jill are siblings. They love each other dearly - so dearly, in fact, that they are linked in every way possible, save physically. Mentally, emotionally, psychically, you name it, they're probably linked that way.
Now - one might expect that Jack is a defensive older brother, massive and bulky from protecting his little sister. Not so. Jill is the fighter. Small and frail, she makes up with speed. She'd go down after a few hits, but she rarely gets hit.
Jack, on the other hand, is a pacifist. He only attacks if he needs to, and almost always keeps his power in check. His size and demeanor bely his nature as a meat shield.
What truly makes these two interesting is their powers as a duet. While within a few city blocks of empty space or closer depending on what separates them, Jack is completely invincible. He cannot be killed as long as he is close to Jill. Jill, on the other hand, feeds on Jack's adrenaline to power herself. This almost always comes in the form of pain. While Jack and Jill are in battle, and Jack is being attacked or has been attacked, Jill siphons his adrenaline for her own use, allowing her to become faster, stronger, more alert, amongst other things. In extreme cases, Jill has been noted as drastically changed.
However, being a duet is also their greatest weakness. When separated, Jack's invincibility mysteriously dissipates, and he is mortal as any human. Jill is as weak as if Jack was not in pain. That is to say, she can only run as fast as a human, and hits about as hard as one, too. They know this, and when they get separated, reunion is the first thing on their mind. They will do everything as they can to reunite.

Hey man, nice to see some new people. I'd be proud of this, but I can't take the credit. Anyway, I know you're starting out, and its an impressing character with imposing powers - But I'd just like to start getting this out to some and see what their opinion is? A long long time ago when we started out here, we had a "Story" Thread, heck, we had a couple, as well as canon threads. Brawlers did and do now have backstories, I know its sometimes fruitless and frustrating, but maybe you could come up with a backstory for this character? Hopefully one deep and intriguing, just a general idea of what he's about (Not a "Personality" bullet) and where he's from and where he got his powers. Of course, yours could be just short and to the point, I can see that, but its a suggestion.

I had an idea recently (namely after playing Valkyrie Profile 2 [I've been nostalgia'ing lately]) that I would give Yallen a "different" power. Instead of just invoking his spells and powers, he has a set of runes that he knows. These runes give his attacks form, and he can only call on so many runes per battle. A more fleshed out concept. [long image] Slashing: The slashing rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a small to medium solid mass of Pure Negative Energy ( also referred to as anti-matter, shadows, etc. ). This mass is generally sword-shaped. It has at least one edge on it, allowing for slashing. Used commonly. Bludgeoning: The bludgeoning rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a small to medium solid mass of shadow. This mass has no edges nor points, and is used to bludgeon his foes. It can take many forms, like a staff or club. Used commonly. Piercing: The piercing rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a small to medium solid mass of shadow. This mass is pointed, generally in the shape of a sword (like a rapier). It is used to poke holes in the frail flesh of people. Used commonly. Fire: The fire rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a small to large mass of shadow. This mass of shadow appears as fire might, and can be controlled as many similar spells. Yallen can use the fire rune to seal wounds. Yallen's favorite rune. Lightning: The lightning rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a small to large mass of shadow. This mass of shadow appears as lightning might, and can be controlled as many similar spells. Yallen's second favorite rune. Earth: The earth rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a medium to colossal mass of shadow. This mass can take on multiple properties, but is always solid. Yallen often uses it to create pillars, mesas, and the like, shaping the battlefield to his advantage. He is also known to create crystals with this rune. Uncommon in use. Is the rune of choice for creating tendrils or tentacles. Water: The water rune, when used, allows Yallen to create a medium to colossal mass of shadow. This mass is in a liquid form, and relatively uncontrollable once it has been released. Yallen uses this in conjunction with the Earth rune to make especially deadly traps. Uncommon in use. Strengthening: The strengthening rune, when used, creates a mass of shadow surrounding Yallen. This mass may be in the shape of a suit of armor, and simply a large bubble of shadow around Yallen. Immersing oneself or an object in this shadow quickly drains all energy out of the object, sending its temperature to 0 degrees Kelvin. It is treated as impenetrable in sufficient quantity. Used sparingly. Weakening: The weakening rune, when used, creates a mass of shadow under Yallen's command. This shadow exists solely to drain the energy from where Yallen directs it, usually at the enemy. Often, it forms a shrinking bubble around the foe, which will wrap itself around the enemy. Unfortunately, during formation and soon after, the bubble is thin and weak. Used on occasion. Body: A very rarely used rune. No one but Yallen knows what this rune does. Summoning: The summoning rune, when used, does just as one might expect. Yallen summons forth a small army of creatures. The size of this small army depends on the creature being summoned - smaller creatures are easier to summon en mass, and are thus more plentiful. Larger, more powerful creatures are more difficult to summon, and are less plentiful. Used on occasion. Dimensions: A very rarely used rune. No one but Yallen knows what this rune does. Those that have seen its use are dead.

after playing Valkyrie Profile 2 Been meaning to start that; all of my roommates are currently playing it. Anyways, the idea seems so incredibly detailed that only you and shackles (aka mister I-can-remember-details-even-the-creator-forgot) will remember, but after a cursory look, they seem to be all okay.

Seems a bit overpowered to me tbh. He can use several elements, heal himself with one of them, summon underlings, weaken folks, plus two other abilities that you're not telling anyone.

Anyways, the idea seems so incredibly detailed that only you and shackles (aka mister I-can-remember-details-even-the-creator-forgot) will remember, but after a cursory look, they seem to be all okay. It's alright, so far. Only a few of the cutscenes are really really pretty, the others are rather bleh. Quality wise, that is. It's a 2.5D game (3D game with 2D sidecrolling action), and I was going in expecting more, so I was disappointed. But I like the way action works and all. Seems a bit overpowered to me tbh. He can use several elements, heal himself with one of them, summon underlings, weaken folks, plus two other abilities that you're not telling anyone. This isn't adding to his powers in the least, just a different way of approaching them and also just detailing how they work. The elements are only named because they way they manifest is similar to a specific element (ie fire). He cannot actually use those elements at all. Just shadow. As well, the healing is only minor. Healing major wounds takes a lot of energy and time, which would not allow for smart use during battle. Take a look at the tourney pic with him healing - that's about as far as it goes, and even then, the wound isn't fully healed. For the summoning - it's both a rarely used ability and requires a lot more energy to use. It's not an on-the-fly sort of move, and takes a bit of preparation to actually summon the minions, unless it's something simple like a couple large shadow rats. The secret abilities are not directly damaging, and they are kept secret for a reason. I tend to like things playing out in that some details aren't known to other players until my character is in such a fashion that it reveals the ability. I can assure you the only one that could be considered overpowered is Dimensions, but I've not quite worked out all the details of it. So I may be able to post what Dimensions does later. Body, however, is a secret ability that is to be kept secret until a set of criteria are met.

I think the runes are a cool idea, but there are some that I would change or remove that seem too overpowered or generic.
Earth- I think you should remove this one, it has no particularly interesting special ability that most of the other ones have, it's only adding to the element thing. Water- Same thing as Earth, this one and Earth are just making the character a lot more overpowered, there are characters that only use Earth or Water, while Yallen already has a large variety of powers. Strengthening- I actually like the shield idea of this one, but maybe make it a little less powerful, instead of being impenetrable, it could just harden his skin and increases his mastery over weapon-type shadows.
I also don't like the idea of the limited runes per thread, what if you wanted to change them later in the thread, or you got one mixed up? Instead of a limit of runes per thread, I think Yallen should be limited by only being able to summon one or two runes at a time, and he could switch them out at any time. With two, the character could use tons of different combinations of the different shadow powers, like Strengthening+Bludgeon= Super-powerful melee attacks or Lightning+Piercing= Vector-like spear.
That is all.

With two, the character could use tons of different combinations of the different shadow powers, like Strengthening+Bludgeon= Super-powerful melee attacks or Lightning+Piercing= Vector-like spear. That is all. Earth and water are there for the specific reason of needing a generic "spell". That and control over shadow is one of Yallen's staples. The Earth and Water runes are there just to give him that control. They allow him tendrils of shadow and amorphous blobs. More often than not that's all they are. Rarely are they used for mass area creation or modification. As for Strengthening, it may seem over powered, but it's one of those "last resort, panic and save yourself" sort of moves. It's meant to save his hide if only long enough to escape. And it's impenetrable for the fact that it slows objects down by removing their energy. ALL their energy. Without energy, they can't move. The bubble is in the range of zero degrees Kelvin. As for the limiting... it's meant more as to be a limiter like any other mage. Mages can only transmit so much arcane energy through them before they tire or are completely consumed by the energy (at least by DnD standards, which is what I function on). So limiting his rune use allows me to limit both his effective power and also lets me get into a scope of realism. I kind of also have already thought on the combining runes, although not entirely. Yallen is a sort of cliche character in that he's dark and mysterious and powerful and controls dark energy and all that jazz, but with his attacks and power, I want to try and think outside the box. Create new ideas with old ideals, in a sense. Also, a new "concept" for a more detailed look at Yallen. If I complete and like this concept, I may modify my drawings of him to fit this, although simplified for time and ease. NOTE: Large image.

So you post your art stuff all in the first post but not your roster... I THINK YOU HAVE IT THE WRONG WAY AROUND... Anyway try post things in concept art thread first so people can tell you stuff like "Hey didn't someone make this character before" or "Hey I recoginze him who was it that made him originally?". If you didn't get the hint this character has been made before but without the random limitation

I have a rather hard time that the concept is so unoriginal in it's entirety that the only thing I have unique for SPB is that he's limited to one random Pokémon per much. >_>

I'll also be editing in Christian Stone at some point.
