Starters' names: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott
Those are in English.

I like the name Snivy because I just think it's funny, Tepig is a bit of a stretch and I don't even understand what Oshawott is meant to mean.
My brother is really into competitive pokemon (I'm scared about the next game coming out because he will destroy me) and he said that his friends had come up with some far better ones. I think my favourite was Pignition for the fire one.

I would love to see his reaction if i came in the room and plugged the game out right after he caught it.

Although I liked some other ones, I think the following names (not necessarily the pokemon, just their names) should be taken out behind the shed and shot:
Roggenrola Boldore Woobat (Come on! A Zubat replacement and they just changed the Z to a W!) Ducklett Deerling Foongus/Amoonguss Klinklang Cryogonal Tornadus/Thundurus/Landorus Mienshao (how do you even pronounce that)

That's a pretty funny way to spell "Crystal". BUT ignoring foolish foolishness such as this, I ended up getting white cuz Zekrom and White Forest seem pretty cool. Which starter did you guys decide on? I ended up going with Oshawott.

Some of the designs look digimonish- or even megamanish- and that's because some of the designers who worked on those company games helped Satoshi make them I still concider all of them pokemon, it's just going to take awhile for all the names to sink in.

Which starter did you guys decide on? I ended up going with Oshawott. I chose Snivy, because I'm standing by my opinion that grass starters have been the best in every generation except for Gen II (I hate Chikorita FFFF). Also, I have White, and so far I can easily say that Gen V is the best since Gen II (but that isn't really saying too much since Gen III sucked, but Gen IV was alright). I like that there's a lot of new Pokemon that take a long time to evolve. I hate when I'm at the third gym leader and I have all my Pokemon fully evolved, it kind of ruins it for me because it leaves nothing to look forward to.

It's pretty obvious right from looking at it that they toned down the difficulty of the game(i.e. simpler caves, inclusion of high exp. dispensing Pokmon Audino, unlimited TM use, etc).
Of course, this doesn't downplay the game's finer points, which lie in the graphics and music, which were all revamped to a polish from the previous generations. From the updated overworld renders, to the mobile animations in battle, to the music that seems to fit every situation, Game Freak definitely covered all their bases on this one.
The storyline was also top notch. There were some really touching moments in that game, plus the way that everyone's ideologies seemed to clash so harmoniously brought everything together nicely. Cheren's struggle to find out what real power is, Bianca's innocent search for her dreams, N's beliefs on Pokemon, and other characters with beliefs like the Gym Leaders, Champion Alder, and Professor Juniper... it's pretty obvious the storyline was written with a lot of thought this time around. I'm not saying the storylines in previous generations weren't thought out well, but Black and White definitely takes the cake.
Plus the difficulty takes a randomly huge spike upwards after you complete the storyline, so that's cool too, especially for the more hardcore gamers.
9.8/10 would play again.

I started off playing as a nuzlocke then got bored and stopped around the sixth gym when I noticed it had nothing to do with skill and that every pokemon that had died had only done so because the enemy killed them in one critical hit. But that's why I don't have exactly the team I might have picked otherwise, although I'd say that the fact it's made me use ones I wouldn't otherwise have picked is probably still a good thing. I can't remember any of my pokemon's names except one because I give them all generic manly names like Steve, Dave, Paul and Bruce regardless of their actual gender except when I think of a good pun to use instead. They're all somewhere around level 42? Leavanny (Dave?) X-Scissor / Leaf Blade / Slash / Shadow Claw I was really sad when this guy evolved from Swadloon, that guy had the best face ever ): Swanna (Duckmitri) Surf / Air Slash / Roost / Fly This guy also looked better pre-evolved He's a bit of an HM slave but he's also not terrible at fighting Ferrothorn (Frank?) Power Whip / Gyro Ball / Iron Defence / Ingrain My strategy for this guy is "Spam iron defence, wear rocky hat. Wait for opponent to kill self while attacking him." His ability does about 1/10th of the enemy's HP when they physically attack him and the rocky hat does the same. I once had an opponent's pokemon almost KO themselves on the first turn with a multi-hit attack. It was beautiful. Now that he has evolved he has some decent attacks too so once he gets Swords Dance I'm going to maybe stop being so passive in battle, but for now it is too funny to watch enemy pokemon commit suicide. Gurrdurr (Gary?) Wake-Up Slap / Rock Slide / Strength / Bulk Up This guy is ugly as sin and I can't evolve him because I don't know anyone to trade with :l Pretty good tank with an eviolite though Lampent (Steve?) Shadow Ball / Will-O-Whisp / Flame Burst / Inferno I learned when looking up the sprite that this guy evolves with a dusk stone and the only moves I would now miss out on are Shadow Ball (which I already taught him with a TM) and Overheat (Not amazing), so I'll probably do that as soon as I next play :V This guy and the next one are probably the two coolest looking pokemon I have Galvantula (John?) Electro Web / Signal Beam / X-Scissor / Electro Ball This pokemon is the best

I just completed the main storyline and the elite four, the champions in this game have made the most elaborate house you could really imagine (even the entrance has eight massive gates) and then after you beat them it only gets bigger. Also the final battle is extremely punishing, if I didn't abuse the hell out of max revives and potions I would have lost pretty quickly.

Double Team, man, Double Team Opponent accuracy drops to 3/4 after one uses 3/5 after two uses 3/6 after three uses 3/7 after four uses 3/8 after five uses 3/9 after six uses Although it is banned in competitive Pokemon... w/e. I only have a team of four right now: Serperior (Lv. 77) Leaf Blade/Giga Drain/Flash/Toxic I don't really focus on EVs/IVs throughout the storyline, so Serperior's Attack and Special Attack are about even, and considering his limited moveset, I just gave him one physical and one special Grass attack. Flash is there if the opponent is clearly going to rape Serperior, and since the AI doesn't know to switch Pokemon, it helps. Toxic is there in case I get into a 'Revive Lock,' as it were, so the opponent dies while I'm busy spamming my 100 Revives. Hydreigon (Lv. 76) Dragon Pulse/Flamethrower/Hyper Voice/Focus Blast Just a high Special Attacker with a varied moveset. Good for lots of type coverage, imo. Zoroark (Lv. 76) Night Slash/Dig/Shadow Claw/Night Daze He has a higher Attack, but Special Attack comes close enough, so I've got type coverage, and a fallback move in case I need to hit something with a higher Defense stat. The AI also falls for Zoroark's Illusion ability, so it helps when they keep shooting off Psychic even though it's not doing anything. Druddigon (Lv. 76) Dragon Claw/Night Slash/Revenge/Double Team Big Attack stat, and Double Team definitely helps when running through the storyline, especially since very few AI trainers have "sure-hit" moves. The varied moveset covers a lot of ground. Dragon type is at least normal effective against all but Steel types, which is where Revenge comes in. The Rough Skin ability also comes in handy when I get forced into a "Full Restore lock," killing the opponent off each time they hit me. . . . . . I may or may not be a Poke-nerd ._.;

Well, Flash does basically the same thing. Since the AI doesn't switch out, it gives me enough time to revive my entire team.
Besides, non-hold items are also banned in competitive play too, you know. ;p
