Get your character on the sides of SPB.com

Okay guys, there's been discussions (and arguments) about people drawing their own characters for the front page of superpaintbrawl.com, so I'm gonna put up some rules up because we don't want any crap on the sides. We want to wow visitors, not make them look at kindergarden doodles.

RULES:

1. Must be fullbody, so no stick figures.
2. Must be above average, so you gotta try your best on it.
3. You'll only have one character up there, so pick wisely (I recommend your main)
4. You must have a background of some kind. I know we're big on the White Void, but it doesn't count.
5. Pics must be at least 150x700. Larger pictures will be trimmed or shrunk.

Thats really all I can think of at the moment.

Me and the team will decide if the pics are worthy to be on the sides, so try your best.

Anyways, if some of you think you aren't able to draw good quality art, then I can draw it for you, or you can contact others to do it, but I'll be more reliable since I have to forcefully do it.

Anyway, I'll make a limited list, so first some first serve.

Concerning that new rule, I wondered if it were possible to have one static background over the entire frontpage, and then the characters are pasted over that?

I'd consider that, but for now make pictures with backgrounds with the understanding that there's a chance we may edit said backgrounds out later.

I'd recommend it, yeah, so you can get advice from everyone else in the community, but theoretically you could just PM it to me. But seriously, I'd recommend showcasing it.

uhh, the list is for people wanting to get thier character drawn by other guys. I put only 10 so after all of them are done, we'll make more requests later.

Also, criticism time.

I'm not liking what I'm seeing at the moment, it seems some of you don't know what you're doing.


Ice: Hey man, your shading is pretty off, the head has different shading than the body.

Also his posture is pretty weird for a guy free falling, but whatever.

Try to detail him up, since he looks pretty simple, though I think its intentional. Adding fingers to his hands wouldn't do harm.

He also looks really small, though.

Sandy: I really feel iffy about yours, it looks rushed, from background to character. The pose would work but if you rework it until you get it right. Please pay more attention to the detail of of the character and background.

Kryten: I don't know what to say about yours, just remove the everything besides the character and background.

Also, everyone, concentrate more on the character than anything else, the background is so the character doesn't look like its in a empty place.

Also a tip so your character wouldn't look so weird when your drawing him in such a small space:

Draw you're character in something more wider than 150, after that, make a background with the normal resolution or include background on the drawing your gonna make, cut your character up so he can meet the size restrictions, that way he wouldn't look so awkward, paste your character if you drew your character on different places.

And please try your best on these things, don't rush them so you can be first in line so your character can be on the sides, because its not gonna happen if you do that.
