I just got done watching Elfen Lied, that was pretty good, if soul-crushingly depressing. Why do all the animes I like have a cast made entirely of mentally scarred people ): Also god damn yet another anime I watch with scenes of one-eyed bandaged people. It's like everyone in the business is out to have my idea before I do. PS: NOT FOR KIDS. You probably don't want to Google this with a responsible adult in the room let alone watch it. The first ten minutes of the first episode are of a mostly naked girl disemboweling a platoon of soldiers and deflecting bullets with her two metre long invisible blade hands and hurling their dismembered limbs at people. You have been warned! ehhh elfen lied, i only watched up to like episode 3, but i remember cat girl shower scenez and shell breaking

Also what the hell is up with all of the horribly inappropriate opening/closing themes? I swear I haven't watched a single anime where something horrible has not happened immediately before or after the program opens or closes with some upbeat music.
This is a show about child assassins! It's about twelve(?) year olds with horrible pasts (the main character had their whole family murdered in front of them and then they got raped, the second character introduced has been a paraplegic for their entire life and was abandoned by their parents who could no longer be bothered to pay for medical bills) who become robots and kill people for a living! Their robot bodies drastically reduce their lifespan! Enjoy this optimistic pop music!
So much mood whiplash ): They are doing this on purpose!
End every sentence with an excalamation mark!

FUCK, you just reminded me of an ABSOLUTE FAVORITE I just finished watching, now in blu ray!
a socially awkward girl and her life revolving around technology and computers. the show is about human psychology and philosophy based around each episode. take like evangelion, sorta nice in the beginning, mindfuck towards the end

I watched the first ten minutes of the first episode and got bored, but I think I should probably try again as people keep reccomending it to me. The first ten minutes really isn't enough to objectively judge anything :b I guess that's next on the list after I finish Gunslinger Girl then.

Alright ladies and gents, what's the best anime ever, in your opinion? FOOLY COOLY. Seriously, I love FLCL. So much. It used to be a pretty far distance til the next.one, but Panty and Stocking is actually coming close now with the latest episode. For serious anime, I liked Saikano and Higurashi, in that order.

I liked FLCL but I also thought it was too weird and confusing, a lot of the ideas were interesting but in my opinion they spent too much time being lolrandom and then ended up... not really explaining anything at all once the series ended. I mean it was still cool and I enjoyed it but I was still upset that nothing made sense at the end.
Out of the anime I've watched so far (it's not a huge pool really) I think I'm probably going to have to go with TTGL. I probably would have said Rebuild of Evangelion but I watched every episode of evangelion about three years ago so although I still think it's aweomse it has dulled a little in my memory. The movie remakes are extra awesome and would still come an extremely close second.
Apart from those three, all I have really watched is Elfen Lied and a little bit of Pokemon and One Piece when I was younger and they were on TV :b Elfen Lied was great but the ending was sort of dissapointing because once again it left lots of things unanswered. I read on TVTropes that it was meant to lead into a second series but they didn't get the money, how unfortunate. Oh and Gunslinger Girl but I'm only four episodes into that so I don't feel justified in giving an opinion yet.

My favorite is either Death Note, or Yu Yu Hakusho.
Mostly because those are the only two I've finished besides naruto, and I never watched the shippuden episodes.

YOU LIED TO ME, GRENT, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? Oh, I do love Big O, but FLCL edges it out. Also it's sorta in between serious and funny, so that's why Saikano beat it for the best serious anime. I do like Big O more than Saikano. also grim watch outlaw star BEBOP IS BETTER AND YOU KNOW IT. Actually, I never finished Outlaw Star...

I think he just suggested it since it seems to be up my alley. *makes a note to check it out later* Oh, I guess I just assumed that everyone who had seen Bebop had already seen at least some of Outlaw Star... It is really good, and MVG's right, you would probably enjoy it.

Does it get more coherent later on or is it all this incomprehensible? Because I don't think I like it :x

I'm still not really sure what it just was that I watched but I'm glad I stuck with Lain past the first episode, slightly too confusing to reach the top of my list but I still don't regret the 6 or so hours I spent watching it.

Only that one? Yeah, it was really creepy, specially taking into account the narcolepsia/insomnia thing, but c'mon, no mention of "DADDY! CALL ME DADDY!" ?
Or what about "Oh, pipe down. We both know I'm the real one."?
Or the otaku dude? Who we get the privilege of seeing nekkid and orgasming in that episode?
Or the school kid who is suspected of being the delinquent and gets bullied into dementia and Lil Slugg'd right on the second episode?
Or, y'know, Lil' Slugger period.
Or, yeah, the cop dude.

double spacing all the way cross the post I'm not well versed on anime and shit but did Satoshi Kon do Paprika because that opening sounds EXACTLY like most of Paprika's soundtrack.
