Quinton shrugged the other trainer's arm off of his shoulder, then dusted off his arm. "I'm not familiar with this Pokemon, sorry." Quinton said as he accepted a clipboard and pen from the Team Rocket grunt and began filling in blanks, then he glanced at the trainer's pokeball, the one that contained the Nidoran which he had been flaunting. "No offense, but I think your Pokemon looks weak. This gas Pokemon is probably a lot more rare if I've never heard of it," Quinton said, continuing to fill out the form.

Charlie rushed through the starter pokemon and item tables, making sure his hair prevented any proper eye contact with the TR grunts. Thankfully, they didn't seem interested in him. After making sure his newly gained potion and poke balls were safely placed next to the rest of the items in his duffel bag, Charlie decided to check out his new pokemon on his way to the ID table.
He carefully squinted through the red portion of the ball, ignoring the way some of the more rude trainers reacted to his slowed down pace. When he finally took in the dog-like form, he nearly jumped. Holy. . .is that an Arcanine? Excitement rose up within him, until he realized the truth. Oh, it's a Growlithe. Like what cops use in movies and tv shows. I guess it's just really scruffy. Charlie's smile returned when he realized what he had received. Looks like I've got a loyal friend. Fire type too! Sure, a Machop would have been cool, but I don't think these are as common.
Charlie cooly flicked the poke ball to his other hand, spinning it on his index finger as he picked up the forms and a pen.

"Heh, Ghastly isn't rare at all, kid. In fact, it's probably one of the most common Pokemon around." Nolan chuckled as he quickly filled out his form. "You obviously just don't know much about Pokemon, maybe you should read up a bit before you go on a big scary adventure, huh?" Nolan says with a smirk.

Mimi, with the average attention span of a small rodent, quickly recalled her new friend and began working furiously on her paperwork. The amount of concentration she had to muster to remain focused on it caused a most amusing look of intense focus to come across her face.

((If we're not using all the "real" pokemon, I don't think adding made up ones is a good idea. Just saying.))
David leaned against a wall to fill out his form, squinting at the letters through the poor lighting. He wasn't exactly comfortable with giving out all of his personal information, especially as he was pretty sure they also wanted his photograph, but they were giving away free and probably valuable pokemon so he supposed they had their reasons. He looked down at the occupied pokeball now hanging from his belt, still staring back up at him. He guessed it would probably turn out to be worth it.
"I'm uh... done." he said, handing the clipboard and pen back to the sort of official looking person behind the third desk. "What's next?"

Adrian moved up to the ID table and swiftly grabbed the paperwork he needed. Looking around he quickly decided where he would go. That guy in the purple shirt and the one with the green hair seem pretty lively, time for a visit. Adrian casually walked over and stood near by, filling out his sheet and attempting to maintain his ruse.
After listening for a few moments he couldn't stand it, he decided to barge into the conversation, staying in character the best he could
"who says you need to study just to have some fun? ..."
a slight smirk appeared on his face. so far, so good...

Quinton grunted angrily as he glared at the Nidoran trainer from behind his glasses, finishing the identification form. "Whatever. I'm destined to be a great trainer, and great trainers can make due with weak Pokemon." Quinton slipped his Pokeball into the case on his back, then handed in the clipboard to the Team Rocket officer. "Anyways, I have to go get my picture for my Trainer's Identification. Good luck with your Nidoran." Quint adjusted the case on his back and moved forward in the line, leaving the other trainer behind him.

Nolan shrugs. "Whatever you say, kid." he says with a sigh as he pushes his clipboard and form into a TR Officer's chest.
A trainer in dark clothing approaches Nolan. "Who says you need to study to have some fun?" he says to Nolan with a smirk. Nolan glares at the Trainer. "Fun? Pokemon training isn't all sunshine and bunnies, kid. If you wanna give your Pokemon a snowball's chance in hell in this world, you're going to have to work day and night to make sure your Pokemon doesn't get its guts ripped out by some punk who decided to pick on a little newbie who thinks Pokemon is some kinda... GAME!" Nolan exclaims as he pushes his way into the line for ID photos, leaving the black-clad trainer behind him.

Charlie scribbled his information onto the forms in a fairly quick, almost careless manner. He didn't particularly care about the legibility of his handwriting. Honestly, the idea of TR having trouble finding out about him was a bit of a comfort. That, and it was difficult to focus on anything except his first pokemon. I gotta think of a good name. . . Charlie popped his neck a bit, the sudden noise surprising some of the other trainers. This included Mimi, whom he simply winked and grinned at reassuringly as he rose up.
On his way to the ID photo line, Charlie stopped by Adrian just after the particularly harsh trainer's outburst. "Hey, don't let him bend you out of shape. That guy's just got something to prove."

It took Charlie rising and entering the photo line for Mimi to realize that she had lost her previous focus on her paperwork. She filled in the remaining few blanks and got in line behind Charlie.

Adrian stared at the green haired boy as he walked off, not sure what was meant by that. Was there some sort of reasoning to the sudden outburst or was he just cranky? You can figure out later Adrian, right now Charlie seems to be talking to ya.
"Oh, Thanks for the encouragement." Adrian replied, stepping out of character, as well as into the line behind Mimi.

After photos are taken and the information recorded, the trainers are forced to wait on it all to be processed. All the other Trainers get their photos taken. About five minutes after that, a secretary exits the TR building with a pile of freshly-printed cards in her hand. She starts calling names of the Trainers on them.
As the Trainers head up to get their card, the secretary asks to see their Pokéball. She asks Mimi, Adrian, and a handful of other Trainers to step inside the lobby. The two of them notice that the other Trainers have either Eevee or Ditto.

Mimi looked around, concerned. "Is something... wrong?" she asked, a little scared to be separate from the other trainers. She felt safer in larger groups, and the group she had just been placed in was significantly smaller than the previous one.

"I'm... sure we'll be fine..." Adrian looked around the room taking it all in. All of these trainers have either Eevee or Ditto... I guess both a' those pokemon can change but.. why're we all here?
It was safe to say, this was another mystery to add to his list.

The TR Officer ignores the Trainers' comments, waving his hand to silence them. "The Pokémon you are now in possession of are... unique. We have trained them in order to heighten their abilities. To those of you with Ditto - the Pokémon has been trained to copy their opponent down to a tee. Type, abilities, training, moves... everything. It is also trained to do this on sight, rather than to be used as a move. To those of you with Eevee - the training is... marginally successful. We attempted to train the Eevee to be able to evolve and devolve, so that it may use any of its evolutionary forms as it wishes. However, we are unable to test the abilities completely, and do not promise that your Eevee will be able to do such." He stops and looks over the Trainers for a moment. "That is all. Any questions?"

(Do they get the abilities they would have had at those levels?)
Mimi raised her hand, then proceeded to ask her question before she was called on. She was excited. "Which evolution is the prettiest?"

Adrian was a little curious about Eevee since he had really only seen one in TV Shows and Comic Books. So he decided learning a bit more about it would be for the best. "So.. what exactly is Eevee able of doing normally? and why was it in need of change?"

The Officer smiled. "Both Ditto and Eevee are unique in that their genetics are highly, highly adaptable. Ditto, as most people know, are able to Transform into anything they see, most notably other Pokémon. Recent research has actually shown that they can adopt more than just the appearances and attacks of the Pokémon they imitate, but also their exact abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and typing.
Eevee, on the other hand, is unique due to its ability to evolve into a Pokémon of any singular type. It's been suggested that Eevee that are specifically trained may also be able to move between forms - to evolve and devolve, technically - almost freely. It takes a lot of energy and the right circumstances for Eevee to evolve, and even more energy for it to devolve, so it can't exactly do it willy-nilly. Being able to do so, even once a day, is a very powerful asset, because a Trainer can easily complement the rest of their team as they see fit."

Being in a room with so many people she didn't know made Mimi both uncomfortable and impatient. The fact that she was barely listening to the explanation the Officer was giving didn't help, either. "Um, can we go now?" she asked.

"If you have no further questions, please feel free to leave at any time."
( At this point, you guys are pretty much set loose. I'm waiting on you to do something so I can respond, because I don't really have anything to throw at you at this point. While it would be nice for all of you to form one group that moves together, I realize that may not be a realistic expectation. Feel free to group up however you want. )

As the night grows older, the other Trainers-to-be start heading home. The temperature slowly drops even further than before, making it quite uncomfortable to be outside. It starts snowing once more, only serving to thicken the already thick layer of snow on the ground. Once more the bells toll out, sounding off eight o'clock.
The next day, at approximately 10 AM, the Trainers hear the sirens blare out - whether its their waking call or not. As a city well-known for being under TR control, E4 makes multiple attempts a year to raid the city and return it to their control. The TR installed the raid sirens specifically to warn all civilians within the city limits of the impending fights. Most houses have been equipped with basements at least a story underground to help insure the safety of those living within the abode.
Do you hide in your basement, clutching your new Pokémon to your chest out of fear, desperately hoping that TR will survive the raid and Saffron will remain a safe location? Or do you stand strong with the former criminal organization, fighting for the freedom that you, as citizens and Trainers of Kanto, deserve?
( I realize the beginning of RP's is slow, but with my last post being 3 days ago, if there are no replies by Monday, January 31, 2011 @ 12:00AM (midnight), the RP will be closed and I will migrate it to Facepunch. If you have a Facepunch account, or wish to try and continue it there, feel free. )

Charlie stood in his basement, staring at his new Pokemon, who sniffed about the locked underground room. The growlithe was noticeably tense from the sirens, sometimes emitting a low growl. The new trainer simply watched, pondering his situation.
His father would be protecting the dojo right now, leaving Charlie to fend for himself. He'd been through enough of the E4's raids to know what was expected of him, but that was before he had a pokemon. Now he could make a difference. TR had always managed to fend off attackers, but the E4 was relentless.
The more he waited, the worse he felt. What would happen to me if they won?
Am I considered an accomplice to TR?
What if they take my pokemon?
Charlie grabbed his duffle bag. "Hey!" The growlithe raised its head and met eyes with Charlie. "Come here for a second." The pokemon padded over cautiously, eyeing the door and walls of the basement.
Okay, great. So wherever he came from, he must be smart or had some kind of training beforehand. Once the growlithe was standing in front of him, Charlie slowly reached into his dufflebag (not wanting to alarm the pokemon any further) and pulled out an orange and red bandanna, with a black spade design on it. He paused for a moment before leaning down to tie it to the growlithe's neck, but the pokemon appeared to be ignoring him.
When Charlie was done, the growlithe shifted a bit from the bandanna until it realized that getting the thing off was a hopeless cause. He eyed the trainer with a mildly confused look. Charlie simply smiled. "I'm gonna call you Ace," he put the dufflebag strap over his shoulder, "because I'm gonna to make sure that you ascend beyond the power of a Nidoking and a Nidoqueen."
The duo were up the stairs and out the door in a single breath.

David leaned against the wall in the darkest corner of his family's basement, within the darkest part of the shadows. His mother, father and little sister were sat on a wooden bench, clustered together at the other end. There was plenty of space for Dave too, but The room was completely silent, apart from the ticking of a novelty Hoothoot clock that his sister had grown out of, hanging from the wall between them and swinging both its eyes and one of its legs in time to the movement of the hands. The silence stretched on, occasionally one of the group on the bench would flick their eyes up to the pokeballs dangling visibly from his belt, up to the eyes hidden behind his reflective glasses and then quickly back down to the ground.
tick tock tick tock
tick tock tick tock
Nobody was forced to help fight off the E4 raids, but once you had a pokemon... it was sort of expected of you really. David's father did of course have his own Pidgeot from his own days of travelling, ostensibly now as a sort of guard animal, but it was getting on in years and was really more of a pampered family pet and probably wouldn't be worth much in a fight.
tick tock tick tock
tick "All right! All right... I'm going out." Nobody else said anything but an almost audible feeling of relief filled the room. "I suppose I owe them now, should do what's best for our town..." David walked past his family towards the door, climbing the cold stone steps up to the exit and turning back at the top to look back at his family. "I uh... might be a while. Don't worry about me, alright?" "Don't do anything rash out there!" his mother called. His father actually laughed aloud at this. "Our boy? Rash? After seventeen years you should know better than that Muriel!" The big man slowly heaved himself up off the bench, stretching the cold of the cellar out of his muscles, and climbed up after his son to shake his hand. "We've not really said it before but we're proud of you son, you're finally making something of your life. If I weren't so old and didn't have these two to look out for, I might even be tempted to join you! Get out there and give them a good one from me, eh?"
David smiled (it wasn't particularly visible under his cloth facemask but his family had learned to pick up the signs) and shook his head at this uncharacteristic display of affection. "Alright Dad, I'll see you all in a couple of hours, OK? Bye." With those last parting words, he unbolted the door and headed out into the cold Winter sunlight.

Mimi sat on her (pink) bed in her room upstairs and brushed Fluffy's fur. Her parents were gone to a Christmas party with some of their friends, and instead of pretending to enjoy herself while talking to ladies nearly thirty years older than her, Mimi had decided to spend some time with her new firend. Suddenly, the sirens went off."Aww, man!" she said, "I was almost done." She thought for a moment, then looked at Fluffy. "I guess I can finish before I head to the basement. The sirens usually go off at least fifteen minutes before I hear any fighting."About five minutes later, Mimi finished brushing Fluffy and reached behind her for a hair clip she had set aside earlier. It had a large hibiscus made of plastic and cloth attached to it, which Mimi showed to Fluffy. "You like it?" Fluffy made a contented noise and Mimi put the clip just behind her ear. Suddenly, some movement outside her window caught her eye. She walked over to it to see Charlie walking down the street. She pulled up the window and called out to him."Charlie? Is that you? What are you doing outside?"
