Adrian sat alone in his bedroom, watching Tim waltz around like he owned the place. From the dark Grey carpet and the posters of Sherlock Holmes to the Haunter bedsheets and the teddy bear on the shelving unit, the black stained Eevee traipsed from window to door to window sniffing everything for signs of danger.
Sure is a paranoid little guy isn't he. Thought Adrian, still trying to think of what may have happened to his new friend.
This was how he normally solved mysteries, he never really tried to find evidence... he just searched his mind for reasonable explanations. He had done this several times before, though Tim was really stumping him. Maybe he did know, but he could never be sure, and he promised Tim he'd figure out who did it! Come on how hard could it possibly... his thoughts trailed off as the sound of a siren suddenly registered in his brain.
The E4 are here
How long had it been ringing? How much time did he have to hide? What will he do with Tim?
Wait.... Where's Tim.
He was gone, out of his room. Adrian rushed downstairs as fast as he possibly could.
"TIM? TIIIIIMMYYYY?" Oh no where did he go this is the worst possible time. "TIM Come on where are ya buddy!?!?" No answer.
Adrian rushed out the door to see Tim standing there in the snow, looking up at the Grey sky searching for an answer to the ruckus. "Tim there you are jeeze where'd ya go man?" Adrian exclaimed, marching through the snow to Tim's location. The Eevee turned hid head to look at Adrian, barking a single "Vee!". He then turned back around to face a house. Adrian looked up. A slightly shorter boy wearing a bandanna over his mouth was standing in the snow, possibly pondering his current situation.
"Eeveeeeeeeeee!" Rasped the Grey covered fox creature, as he ran ravenously at David.
Unknown to David, all Tim wanted to do was ask what the hell was going on.

None of this background was apparent to David, all he was aware of was that he'd been walking maybe two minutes across an empty, snow-covered city when suddenly a grey and brown devilbeast burst from hiding and charged towards him. "Holy shit!"In blind panic, David reflexively took the pokeball already clasped nervously in his sweaty right palm and hurled it with all his strength at the approaching creature in an attempt to stave it off. It missed by quite a wide margin, landing softly in the ice before snapping open and releasing (for the first time since he recieved it) the pokemon contained within. "MAGNEMITE"While David fretted and scrambled away from the Eevee, pressing his back against a nearby wall, the two Pokemon had stopped to face eachother. The Magnemite floated slowly sideways through the air at perhaps a twenty degree angle, giving the impression of dazedness, as if it wasn't quite aware of where it was or what was going on. The only clue that this was not actually the case was in its single eye which stayed locked directly onto Tim, tracking him constantly as both pokemon moved around eachother. "MAGNEMITE"After roughly ten seconds of silence and staring, the Magnemite appeared to reach a decision based on whatever prior training it had recieved before being given away at the event. Snapping suddenly upright to face Tim directly, the magnets attached at either end of its body sprang outwards at ninety degrees and began to rotate, at first slowly but with a rapidly increasing speed. As the magnets became almost invisble blurs, a sudden flash of electricity coursed through them, producing an unholy and deafening sound that could only be likened to the feedback produced by holding a microphone up to its own speaker, although this does it little justice. This was at least enough to break David out of his panic-induced stupor, pressing the sleeves of his overly-long jacket against his ears as he ran back forward to confront his own pokemon. "Ow! Damn! Stop that! Hey! Quit it!"Whether the Magnemite couldn't hear him over its own infernal screeching or whether it simply didn't feel like listening wasn't clear, but either way the magnets kept spinning and it continued to amplify the horrible noise, still glaring at Adrian's pokemon.

( Alright. I'm gonna count you two as in combat for this. Eevee goes first, then Magnemite. I'll post between the two Pokémon for successes, obviously.
This isn't to say that Magnemite's attack is suddenly nullified - it counts as a surprise attack, essentially. )

Charlie looked up at the sound of his name. Recognizing the girl, he hurried over with a grin.
"I'll tell you what I'm not doing. I'm not sitting around in a basement while the E4 pulls their usual crap." He pulled out a pokeball, showing Mimi the newly nicknamed growlithe inside. "And the sooner I get started training Ace over here, the better."
Charlie's excitement was enough to distract Mimi from the sirens. "Oh, he looks cute!"
"Heh, thanks. Not really what I was going for, but whatever. Anyway, do you wanna come with me? We could team up, even!"

Mimi stepped back from the window for a moment so Charlie couldn't see her and knelt down to talk to Fluffy. "What do you think, Fluffy? He seems nice, but I don't really like fighting..."
"Ee-VEE." Fluffy responded adamantly.
"You're right. He probably could use some help. It'd be mean to leave him on his own, right? Especially when he asked so nicely." She stood up "I guess it's decided, then." Mimi recalled Fluffy to her ball and went downstairs to meet Charlie. "Okay, where are we going?"

Charlie held onto his pokeball as he walked, ready to throw it at the first sign of trouble. Mimi followed him. "Wherever we can find some action. The fighting should still be near the city's entrances. Or just outside them."

As Charlie and Mimi turn to head towards the city limits, they can easily spot the signs of battling. Telltale flashes of light accent the din of the city and the crashes of the fighting. As they head towards the fighting, they notice a rather large group of trainers moving quite quickly away from it and into the city. They split, heading different ways. One continues to head straight towards the pair, and as the Trainer approaches, they can see he is riding a Doduo. He isn't in a TR uniform, so they can only assume he's from the E4.

(WAIT, WE CAN RIDE DODUO?! Actually, this doesn't make much sense; Doduo are a little over 4 feet tall and weigh under 100 pounds. I doubt they could support a person. Also I assumed the trainer was male, if this is incorrect, just let me know, Candy.) As the Trainer riding the Doduo came within hearing distance of Mimi and Charlie, the former greeted him with a large wave. "Hi! I like your bird! It's really fluffy looking!" She called.

( I've seen it done before. Waaaaaay back I remember a comic or something about a Pokérace. Brock was in it riding either a Golem or an Onix or something. And yes, male Trainer. )
"Out of the way, kid!" the Trainer shouts back.

"EEEEEE" Yelped Tim, physically shaken by the sound.
Adrian covered his ears from the painful screeching "OW Jeeze what is it doing?!?!!"
Adrian didn't get a response, most likely due to the screeching noise, whether David answered or not was unknown to him, it was just too dang loud.
During this Tim, lashing out in confusion, attempted a tackle attack.
Will it hit? Who knows? its another mysssteryyyyy...

The Eevee darted through the snow, paws digging into the snow as it leapt towards the Magnemite. The two connect, and Eevee drops to the ground as Magnemite reels backwards, the magnets on either side slowing to a stop.

The trainer ignored Mimi, still rushing in their direction. Charlie reacted, pitching a pokeball at the Doduo rider. It bounced halfway between the trainers, releasing Ace. The growlithe had clearly been waiting for a sign of action and launched himself at the Doduo, fangs bared.
"If you won't answer her, then maybe you can entertain us for a bit?" Charlie asked cockily. He flipped back his bangs, putting on a pair of sunglasses before anyone could get a decent look at him.

The Doduo reacted quickly, leaping up and over both the Growlithe and both Trainers. "You want a fight, huh?" the Trainer asked. "You got one!" The Doduo landed, spun around, and kneeled slightly, letting its Trainer hop off. "Doduo, Quick Attack!" The large bird dug one foot into the snow and quickly propelled itself towards the still-recovering Growlithe. Ducking both heads, it disappeared for a moment, flashing back into sight as it slammed into Ace. Ace tumbled head-over-heels in the snow.
While the Doduo was attacking, the Trainer pulled his second Pokéball from his belt. "I'll take you both on!" he shouted as he loosed the ball into the snow. It popped open, a Beedrill shooting out. It buzzed around, waiting for its command.
( With Grim and Grent in combat, the posting order for them is: NPC, Fluffy, NPC, Ace. Ace got the surprise attack, and the NPC has gone. It is now Fluffy's turn. )

(I'm gonna pretend that Charlie and Mimi have already introduced one another to their Pokémon. Okay? Okay.)
Mimi shrieked; all the sudden action had taken her by surprise. Luckily for her, she also happened to drop the Pokéball containing Fluffy in her shock, and her Pokémon was reared and ready to go. It was obvious from Fluffy's stance that she had seen some combat before. She stared at her opponent, waiting for a command. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for her master, who was still a little confused at what was going on. She had never really paid attention to any TV shows about battling or training or anything, so she didn't even know what her Eevee could do. The best she could manage in terms of orders was "Uh, Fluffy! Help out Ace!"
(HELPING HAND. SHE'S USING HELPING HAND.)

The Magnemite reeled backwards and shook its floating screws back into place, forced to stop generating the awful noise. It had only been trying to scare whatever that thing was away and protect its master but now it was really mad! MAGNEMITE! In its anger it decided to take advantage of its opponent's presumably lowered special defence by... using a physical attack, dropping low to the ground and attempting to ram the Eevee in return. Whoever trained this thing obviously didn't instil into it any particular degree of tactical genius, or perhaps it was just unaware of the completely pointless secondary effect of its previous attack.
David watched on with growing interest. Was this his first pokemon battle? He turned to surreptitiously look at the other nearby kid, presumably the eevee's trainer. Looked a little young to be an E4 member... but surely nobody else would have come up and attacked him, and besides, why else would he be hiding his face with his hat like that? The hypocricy of this last line of thought was completely lost upon him.

Mimi's Eevee started glowing blue, before electricity of the same color sparked over to Ace. The Growlithe seemed unharmed by it.
The young E4 Initiate smirked with Eevee's attack. "You're not even going to attack?" he taunted. "Feh! Beedrill, Poison Sting!" The Beedrill shot forward at Fluffy, stingers glowing purple. It jabbed at Eevee, who leapt to the side. A flurry of snow shot up as the Beedrill plunged its stingers harmlessly into the snow.
Magnemite streaked toward Adrian's Eevee, quickly returning the favor of being attacked. The attack connected solidly, and Eevee was sent tumbling through the snow as Magnemite lazily floated back up to its normal floating height.

Quinton sat up in his bed, sunlight was pouring through the gaps in his window shades and lighting the bedroom. He picked up his glasses off the dresser, setting them onto his eyes and adjusting them into their proper position. The sounds of the sirens outside were still echoing through the city. Quinton stood up, examining the clock on the wall. It was already the middle of the day. The sirens outside signaled that Saffron City was being raided. Quinton had been over the proper procedure of what to do during a raid with his mother, but none of that mattered now that he had a Pokemon. Now, nothing could intimidate him. Quinton grabbed his guitar case and lid the strap over his head, then put on his Pokeball cap. Quinton's items could be heard tossing around inside the case. He then turned back to his dresser. On top of it was the shiny, red Pokeball that contained his Gastly. Quinton walked over and picked it up, examining it one last time before he went outside. The transparent top of the Pokeball showed through to the inside. The cloud of purple, fizzy smoke still cloaked the mysterious Pokemon inside. "Great trainers can make due with weak Pokemon, and I'm destined to be the best trainer," Quinton said to himself. He slipped the Pokeball into his case and zipped the case closed. By now, Quinton's mother would be at work, she'd probably be worried about Quinton, being alone at home during a raid Quinton walked out the door of his bedroom, quickly making his way to the front door. He opened the door to the outside. The sky was covered with light, grey clouds that were illuminated by the sun's rays. They drizzled a gentle, sparkling snow across Saffron city. This was it, the day Quinton became a trainer. He closed the door behind him and prepared to aid his hometown in defending against the raid.

Ace recovered, shaking the snow off himself and returning to a battle stance. "Ace, use Bite!" Charlie shouted. The Growlithe, empowered by Fluffy's move, once more lunged at the Doduo with its fangs bared.

Adrian flew into the snow, sliding into Adrian's feet.
"Gah! Tim?"
Tim stood up and let out a growl, he was confused and all he knew was that the big shiny magnet ball just hit him in the face, you know how much that hurts? It hurts quite a bit Tim can tell you that.
Adrian looked up at the boy and his Magnemite. Was he part of the E4? Is that why he attacked him? ... well, how could he know Tim did charge first. Dang it how could he be sure?
"Uh.. ok Tim don't be hasty! No need to attack until we-" Adrian didn't get to finish, as Tim was already charging for another Tackle attack.

Quinton catches a small "vwip" some proximity behind him. Turning around, he notices nothing. Some snow on the ground, the raids well in the distance at the Saffron gates, and the empty streets. As he goes to turn around, a Trainer appears feet in front of him in a full sprint. "OUT O-" the Trainer manages before slamming into Quinton. Both the Trainers are sent sprawling into the snow. The two of them start getting up, and the Trainer growls at Quinton. "You lookin' for trouble, kid?!" Quinton notices an Abra also climbing out of the snow. "Go back inside before you get hurt!"
Ace leaps at the Doduo, which digs its feet in to dodge the attack. However, its feet sink into the snow, causing it to stumble. The Growlithe sinks its teeth through the feathers, latching onto the Pokémon tightly. The Doduo shrieks out in pain, and the Trainer orders it to attack. "Doduo, Peck!" The Pokémon rears its heads back, both diving at Ace. However, Ace quickly shook his head, sending the Pokémon off-kilter. Both tumbled to the snow.
As Tim leapt at the Magnemite, it floated higher, dodging the attack. Eevee landed lightly in the snow behind it, and Magnemite slowly turned around to face its foe.

Fluffy once more started glowing blue, and electricity arced over to Ace. However, this time, the "attack" fizzled out harmlessly, doing absolutely nothing. The Trainer laughed. "You can't use Helping Hand more than once in a battle!" he taunted. "I'll show you how to fight! Beedrill, Poison Sting!" Beedrill buzzed about, then dove at Eevee, stingers dripping poison. Eevee braced itself for the attack. A flurry of snow kicked up as the Beedrill dropped lower to the ground, enshrouding the two Pokémon.

As his Magnemite effortlessly dodged the enemy attack, David grinned behind his mask. Evidently he had been lucky, fate had assigned him what seemed to be a pretty good one. His pokemon was strong, being strong was good. If he kept getting strong pokemon... maybe he wouldn't have to be so afraid of everything.
Of course while he was pondering this, his prized pokemon was pretty much just doing its own thing. Deciding that the Tackle strategy seemed to be working quite well, it hovered back and then shot forwards for another attempt.

"Oh no!" Mimi gasped when she lost sight of her Pokémon. Charlie winced a bit, knowing that he had dragged her into this. Okay, the faster we beat this Doduo, the faster I'll be able to help her. Charlie nodded at Ace, who already knew what to do. Once again, he went for the Doduo.

Quinton scooted backwards, eyeing the other trainer and the abra climbing out of the snow. Quinton frantically reached behind him and partially unzipped the case on his back, pulling out a Pokeball and bringing it up to his face. The purple smoke was clouding the inside, still masking Quinton's Pokemon. The nervous look on Quinton's face was soon replaced with a look of determination. Quinton stood up from the snow and extended his arm, a beam of sunlight glinting off the edge of his shining Pokeball.
"Sorry, you can't run away from a trainer battle."
The Pokeball popped open, and a column of purple smoke billowed out onto the ground. Quinton squinted his eyes to see from behind his glasses, trying to see through the poisonous gases. The smoke dissipated, revealing a floating black sphere in the center of it. It's glaring white eyes and sharp fangs were illuminated through the cloud, and soon it's full form could be seen. It opened it's mouth, letting out it's long tongue and exhaling some more dark gases. It's wheezing voice let out one word in a solemn tone, "Gastly".
Quinton smirked and adjusted his glasses one last time. "Fizz, I choose you."

As Magnemite dove, the Eevee leapt to the side and avoided the attack as easily as Magnemite had avoided its attack. The two were back where they had started, staring one another down.
Ace dove at the Doduo once more, teeth bared. The Growlithe sunk its teeth into the Doduo's leg. As it shook its head, the Doduo fell to the ground. The other Trainer growled as he watched, obviously angry with his Pokémon. "Doduo, Growl!" The Doduo opened its beaks to growl at the Growlithe, who replied with a quick shake of his head. The Doduo squawked in pain.
The Trainer gritted his teeth as Quinton challenged him, then laughed as he sent out Gastly. "Hah! Do you know nothing of types and what's weak to what?!" he shouted, trying to make Quinton second guess himself. He ordered his Abra to attack. Bubbles of white energy swirl around the Pokémon, then quickly morph into what appear to be round pebbles. They then launch themselves as Fizz, who simply floats between them. The attack passes through the Gastly harmlessly.

(I've already spoken to Candy about the result of Beedrill's attack. I'm not deciding it for myself.) The snow cleared around Fluffy and the opposing Beedrill to reveal that the massive insect had missed its mark. Mimi was so excited to see that her Pokémon was okay that she blurted out "Good job, Fluffy! Now get him!" without really thinking. (Tackle)

Quinton smirked at the other trainer as he slipped Fizz's Pokeball back into the case on his back. "Fizz, attack!" Quinton's Gastly zigzagged through the air, leaving a trail of purple smoke behind it. He rushed towards the other trainer's Abra, slashing at it with his long tongue.
