So I've been thinking about the tournament and how it flopped, and how we might be able to have another tournament or similar event in the future without it being as unsuccessful, and I had an idea. Instead of a single event, we could have a rankings system similar to No More Heroes: the top ten Brawlers are ranked, in order, and they must challenge each other to advance. Here's a basic layout of what I had in mind:
Each user nominates one of their own brawlers to be eligible for the rankings. Everyone votes on them to determine the initial ranking. The rankings are then posted, and the real fun begins.
If a Brawler is on the rankings, s/he may challenge the next brawler up to a rankings fight, which will function similar to an individual match in the tournament (time limits, special arena, etc.). This time, however, the users involved could set their own time limit and arena, or have the audience decide for them (within reason; i.e. ranked fights shouldn't last more than a month). At the end of the match, the rest of the users would vote on the winner. If the challenger wins, they swap rankings with the other Brawler. If the defender wins, everything stays the same. Unranked Brawlers can start from the bottom by challenging #10, with more or less the same process for the fight itself.
A couple of additional points:
If you guys don't like voting to determine initial ranking, we could have a Battle Royale in which one user is eliminated by vote each week or so and get the rankings from that.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Also, if you're up for the idea and would like to participate, let me know who you'd want to enter with. Personally, I think I'll be using Gunsmith, but I might change my mind later.

A couple of additional points:
- If a ranked user wants to switch out which Brawler they're using, I think they should start over. In this case, we'd record an eleventh-rank Brawler (the eleventh-ranked in the initial voting or the last person to get knocked off, depending on when this happens) who doesn't have to be challenged to get ranked, but who would move to number ten if someone were to leave the ranking. Everyone below the leaving user would be moved up a slot.
- If a user is unable to accept a challenge from a user for acceptable reasons (i.e. IRL issues, computer virus, serious illness), they can delay the challenge or pass it along to the next highest ranked Brawler. The ranking of the Brawler who was unable to participate would remain unchanged; the other two Brawlers would swap if the challenger won. (If someone declines too many challenges, they will just be removed from the rankings and replaced according to the procedure above).
- Defender gets final say on rules if they cannot come to an agreement with the challenger, unless the mods decide the defender is being a dick, in which case it goes to popular vote.
- Special matches in which more than two ranked Brawlers participate at the same time are allowed, but the rules had better be crystal clear.
- If we wanted to really be like No More Heroes, the challenger could have an intro pic where they fight through a horde of the defender's minions in order to get to the defender's lair or something.
