What?I need help making a game. I can't garuntee that I'll work on it alot, I have plans to down to Pennsylvania to visit my dad. I 100% doubt I will make any money off of it, because I'm not gonna get sponsored you silly gooses, so if your like, "Xin's making a game, I can come up with a part in it then take some of the profit lololool" then get the fuck out. Why're you making it?I want to do something creative. Figured you guys might want to help for the hell of it. What's the game about?I have a sample of it for you guys, but I can't find a place to upload it... But, basically it's like the Impossible Quiz, but not questions? It's a series of tasks you must do in order to advance onto the next one. For instance: the first task has you click a red button out of three choices. If you click the right button then you advance onto the next task. I decided to name the game "Advance". What do we have to do?1) Come up with a task to do. 2) Draw something for me maybe? I'm not good anymore. 3) Scope out for music on Newgrounds that would go good. 4) Find sounds on freesound.org that would help me. 5) Nothing if you don't want to help it's o.k. What do we get for helping?Nothing really. Just your name in the corner explaining how you helped and a link to your newgrounds profile or your profile here? If someone could draw something iconically representing super paint brawl I'll make it so if they click it they'll come here. I would gladly give you a preview of it if I could find a place to upload it. :/ I will take forever to finish this, I am telling you this now, I have so many unfinished projects. -Edit: June 18th 2010 12:55AM-You don't have to do anything more than just tell me your idea.A little concept art would be appreciated. I'm gonna surf around to find out a way to upload the game so you can see it. -Edit: June 18th 2010 11:36AM-Disabled tabbing and I need some assistance when it comes to the platformer task. Is the guy floating like he is to me? He was working properly at first, but then he went all haywire, my computer sucks so idk. spamtheweb.com/ul/s1852010713_Game.html

-snip-
I still think it should be like a platformer. It would be interesting that way.
Also, upload it to Spam the web
Reason for Editing: didnt read op carefully

From what I got of your description, you want more of difficult or mind-bending tasks that stretch one's creativity or makes them think in different ways in order to pass a specific task. What you have now is not difficult, it's just a time waster. If you want what I described, I would suggest either rethinking what you're doing or make sure you ramp up the difficulty of what there is to do.
Telling us to clicking the red button, with only one red button available, is extremely simplistic. Even something like telling us to click the red button would work better than what you have. Expanding on this, you could see about getting someone with a bit more advanced programming knowledge have it choose a random color for the text and a random color for the word that's being picked, with three buttons that are colored all from the available choices for the above.
Example: Click the green button. Button Button Button
Granted, this would take more advanced programming knowledge, but it's a bit more mentally stimulating than coloring the word red, telling us to pick the red button, and only having one red button.
I'm at a loss of where you could take this, but start looking around at puzzle games, and see what you can pick up. See what inspires you. Maybe even just images.
Also, disable tabbing through items - it makes things like finding the rainbow colors in order much too easy.

Have a game where there's a lot of Tetris-looking blocks facing the center. Clicking them sends them forward into the middle. The object is to click them in the right order to form a square.

I understand that it's easy, silly billy. The point is for it to gradually get harder. I could make it possible to have a random word pop up and have a variety of buttons to choose from. For right now I'm making a platformer for one of the tasks, and it's going to be very easy. But then I'll probably make another one later on and make it very hard. Catch my drift? As for Grent, not a bad idea at all. In order to make a square you only need four pieces? Is that the idea? :o

I have an idea. Maybe a task that's like a zombie game, but instead, the zombies are the survivors. Y/N?

Candybiu, I really don't feel like going through everything and pasting the code that disables tab for them, god damnit. I was hoping you guys couldn't figure that out. (; I'm so naive.
Grent, then how to you win? (;
Drychris, a platformer type of game or what's up? I hate doing platformers, they take knowledge I don't have, and I end up making a bunch of complicated codes that make sense but in the end was too much work.

Well...I'm not sure if a shooter like game would be less complicated. It could be like a point and click game where you have to click on something so the zombie escapes.

Help the zombie escape from the surviviors? Should he be trapped inside a shack while surviviors pound on the door? Then you have to click certain things to espace n' stuff? What're you thinking?

Help the zombie escape from the surviviors? Should he be trapped inside a shack while surviviors pound on the door? Then you have to click certain things to espace n' stuff? What're you thinking? I was thinking that it could be like a recurring task that could make references to zombie games of your choice. Like here's how I see it: First time: Zombie's hiding in shed and a normal citizen comes in and tries to kill the zombie with the gun by breaking the shed with his gun. Click on the hand to chew the arm off and it falls down Second time: Same as before, but the arm is still living, so you click on something to crush the arm. Third time: Francis from L4D comes crashing through the shed, with a shotgun and keeps yelling for help while he shoots at you. So the zombie hides behind a barrier. Click on something to knock the gun off and click on a barrier closer to Francis. Then he gets another gun and fires at you. So then you click his legs at the right time to eat them off and watch him slowly die. Fourth time: Lewis from L4D comes in yelling out for pills. Click on a table to hide under, but he'll crush it. So you click to hide in a closet. But then he breaks the door open, so you quickly click on the face so you bite it and run. Then the zombie will find some pills and you have to quickly choose for the right pills from the three choices. Why? 'Cause one of them will blow up Lewis. Fifth time: You run away from the shed and then see the photographer dude from the game where you use anything to kill zombies (I forget the name), coming at you and throwing random stuff at you. You click on a peeble to trip over so that the objects that come at you don't kill you and you roll down the hill. Then once you land, you need to find your head in a pile of leaves. So you have to click fast before the comes to kill you. Then once you find it, put it on. Then click on you head again so you screw it on right. Then you run again as the photographer then throws the camera at you. Click on the camera so it flies to a tree. But then the tree will break and then try to crush you. So you have to click really fast in order to dodge the tree. Then the photographer will come at you and you have to click at him before he lands so that you spit at him, causing him to get stabbed by a long branch from the tree. But if this is too complicated (which I imagine it would be), then you can just make it like the zombie hiding in the shed, survivors break the shed door. Then the zombie runs away and clicks on various things to decrease the number of survivors either causing them to trip and get trampled by the rest of the mob or get killed (like you swing a knife at a survivor. Reason for Editing: You can also modify the references to your choice, it doesn't have to be like how I made it.

Reason for Editing: You can also modify the references to your choice, it doesn't have to be like how I made it. The game your looking for is "Deadrising".Oh shit man, very complex. I like the fact of a reaccuring thing, I could make the first time I introduce the idea very simple, then the next time it could get harder. Make it up to three times? Five seems like a little much. First time: I like the idea of a shed. So I want it to show a zombie in a shed then someone's banging on the door. You have to quickly find a place to hide, 'cause if you don't he comes in a shoots you with a shotgun. When you hide, you have to wait a little for him to turn around or you will meet with the barrel of his gun. Once he turns around like, "Wtf? Where'd it go?" you run up behind him and eat him. Then you prance off into the distance while other people join in the chase. Second time: You run into a house and hide underneath the table, the mob is far behind but there is a big burly dude following you so you ditched underneath the table. If you don't he will come in and chop your head off with an axe. When you do he'll look around and then chop the table in half, giving you a split second to dodge or die. You have to click him fast or he'll chop ya' head off, if you click on him in time you'll pounce on top of him, devouring his... face? Third Time: Your running away and the mob is not far behind. Your in a continuous running cycle and you have to press space to jump and down to duck at the right times or you'll be hit by a tree, log, rock or something that'll make you fall and have the mob on you in less than a second. I am a horrible animator, so do not blame me if this doesn't get done. I know enough coding to make it happen. Point n' clicks aren't hard at all. Since this is your idea I'll put your name in the corner to where if you click it the internet will open up to your newgrounds account? Or your account here?

I like it. When do you think it should be introduced? Thanks for the music choice. I have some ideas on how I could introduce it. I'll put your name in that you scouted it. Would you like a link to your name and where would you like it to go? Edit: Nevermind, I have a few ideas.

honestly the game seems sort of shitty but whatever, I'll help, I can code AS3 pretty well. Also, if you say no, at least get rid of the second level, it's tedious and useless.

Sure, I could use your help at some point maybe. I like to work independently mostly, but I'm sure to get stumped at some point. I won't need your help until I get back from Ohio from working with my dad. Nah, I'm not getting rid of the second level, I like it for some odd reason. I expect to remodel everything, I'm definately replacing levels 3 and 4, they're just placeholders for now. I'm messing around with some coding for the 5th level and one thing keeps not working. If you want me to I'll PM it to you or something.

Not precisely what I had in mind, but I love those puzzles! I'm apparently much better at those than most people, though, so I can't judge difficulty too well (surprisingly, this isn't just my ego talking; I've actually compared my results with several people and I solved them significantly more quickly).
