How about this, they start out as pale, but when you run your mouse over it, they become shiny/more colourful. Or vise versa.
or something like that.

But that would require another line of code per button! Of course we'd have rollover images for buttons, but we're talking about base, without rollover. I guess that is a suggestion also though.

Well I'm procrastinating on the button thing, but if you guys wouldn't mind typing your username into the box on this page, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to make sure php is configured like I would like it to be.
EDIT: I guess I should clarify: the username is just so I can identify who's posting. It doesn't matter what you actually write unless you get an error.
EDIT 2: Alright, there don't seem to be any problems. Thanks for the help, guys.

Okay, so luckily it looks like there were no problems with that test, so we're gonna be moving on. I would like your input on the proposed roster system. I'm fairly sure I've ironed out most of the kinks in this, but feel free to try and break this one. The submit button doesn't upload any data to the site itself, but it will show you what the profile would look like after you hit the submit button. Alternatively, you can skip the process of making a profile for yourself and just check out my demo if you're not interested in attempting to break things. Input, as always, is appreciated. And I will work on the button thing eventually I promise.

Nice! But maybe the URL should be more like /rosters/grent/qqqq or something Something like this would be good, imo, both for navigation and physical storage of the files. /rosters could list the rosters of every person that has a roster, possibly with a small list below (either in a spoiler-like box, or just listed off), and then you could get to /rosters/<player>, which would list all of <player>'s characters, likely with more information than would be found in /roster. Finally, /roster/<player>/<brawler> would be what we have. Couple of things: I hope we can, in the final version of the site, edit sheets. Something to where we can maybe make a sheet for a character before we have a drawing, but the rest is already ironed out. Put it up so it's there, then work on a drawing. The other is an idea. Set the powers (and maybe resistances/weaknesses) sections up with tags, and then let us browse the tags. That could be a more simplistic system to where you could browse a concept by either clicking a tag, or searching for one. Let's say someone wants to try making an original character, some dude with fire powers. He could look at the "fire" power tag, and find a list of all brawlers with the "fire" tag in their powers. You could also have a drop down menu, or suggested tags, something like that, so people don't start messing up that section.

Nice! But maybe the URL should be more like /rosters/grent/qqqq or something Something like this would be good, imo, both for navigation and physical storage of the files. Yeah, the QQQQQ roster link is in no way indicative of the final structure of linking. I just copied and pasted the source from my test run of the system into a new html page to have something to show off. Or, in English: "Yeah, don't worry about it." Couple of things: I hope we can, in the final version of the site, edit sheets. Something to where we can maybe make a sheet for a character before we have a drawing, but the rest is already ironed out. Put it up so it's there, then work on a drawing. Post-creation editing is for sure. Hell, that was half the reason we decided on this system. Since we're a graphically-based organization, though, I would very much like to make users have pictures of their Brawlers before they get to use them. Perhaps I could add a "concept" radio/checkbox that would allow you to reserve the name etc. but indicate that the profile isn't completely done yet? The other is an idea. Set the powers (and maybe resistances/weaknesses) sections up with tags, and then let us browse the tags. That could be a more simplistic system to where you could browse a concept by either clicking a tag, or searching for one. You could also have a drop down menu, or suggested tags, something like that, so people don't start messing up that section. I like the idea, but the main implementation I can think of is a pain. I might add this functionality in later, after I've worked more on other parts of the site.

WAIT WHAT ABOUT TRADING CHARACTERS

WAIT WHAT ABOUT TRADING CHARACTERS I guess there'd be a way to delete characters from your roster, then simply allowing someone else to make the new profile for their roster. That what you meant?

I don't think it is, but a "trade" or "give" button seems kind of silly to me.

There should be a character limit.
Trading characters seems a little off, we might make a character selling section or whatever, but that'll make people create a ton of characters they won't use and then sell them later on, so this issue is pretty iffy.
So character selling/trading will be risky thing to make, we need to carefully plan it out.
or just not make it at all since its useless anyway :V

There should be a character limit. Is it even that big a deal? I mean, seriously? Trading characters seems a little off, we might make a character selling section or whatever, but that'll make people create a ton of characters they won't use and then sell them later on, so this issue is pretty iffy. It's not like it's a regular thing that happens. . .

It may be a bit hard to keep track of but it could work.

There should be a character limit. Kinda stupid, maybe just a normal Brawler limit that's about 10-15 and ethier an infinite or large amount of Sub-Brawlers.

Nobody will buy straight-to-brawlmart characters that aren't thought out, it's happened before when ChowderBalboa tried to sell that robot-cyborg-smoker character and nobody wanted it. You don't need to slap on a restricting character limit to prevent people from doing that. Honestly, a character limit would cause larger problems that it'd solve.

Okay, quick update. Registration is almost done, except there's a glitch in the script that's supposed to check if the username is taken. After I fix that, I may let you guys go ahead and register or I might wait until there's something for you to do after logging in. Further bulletins as events warrant.

On the subject of vets, how are we going to do the ranking? I know it's hardly revelent at this current time, and it's more of a status symbol, which we won't need until we start to edge towards the final product.
I did have an idea though.
