All the cool people have art threads, so I made one.
Although all the cool people didn't have art threads until I made one obviously, one of them didn't. That was me. But now I have one so now all the cool people have art threads.
Yeah.
If you go to deviantart you might as well visit metalchao.deviantart.com/ because I'm just reposting everything that was already up there. You can stop reading now if you've already looked at my page in fact. Go on, shoo.
Most of my drawing before I joined this site was either in the form of doodles on paper which I can't scan and are at my old house so I won't post here, and tiny little men for a different site called Picture Wars.
They're actually meant to be like video game sprites rather than drawings but I think that counts as art too.
I won't tire you with the backstories behind every picture.
Ok that's a lie I will. All it takes is copy and pasting it from a different message board I already posted it on so it's no extra work for me.
In fact removing them would be more work.
These are goblins. They're the second army I ever made and for some reason quickly became very iconic. I think they're the main reason anyone on PW knows who I am (or were, before I became a mod. Now they're the second reason) and people get sad sometimes if I use anything else in matches ):
They're a bit like Orks in that they are green, stupid and like fighting but not so much like orks because they are also very cowardly and not actually particularly strong or durable.
Void are psychic bird people from another dimension. They're actually the first army I ever made but I've updated the sprites since then and deleted the old version, which I regret now but whatever.
Their suns are dying and they require energy, so they invented a device that allowed them to travel between dimensions and transfer the power from there to their own planet in order to stop themselves from going extinct.
This has the unfortunate effect of doing to wherever they land what was going to happen to their own planet, and the second unfortunate effect that anyone who travels through the gateway is transformed into a disgusting mutant.
This army annoys people because they do bad things for good reasons, they want to feel sorry for them but then also kill them, if they stopped they would all go extinct (they can't all just move through the portal because it's painful and makes them into monsters) but if they continue they'll have to kill thousands of other people. HOW DEPRESSING.
The Black Temple or Holy Empire of Mankind is more recent than the others, although as you probably can tell from my avatar the idea has been around for a while and it's my favourite.
They are basically interdimensional space racists who fly around conquering planets in the name of humanity and believe that they are the pinnacle of genetic perfection. Obviously this means that humans are too precious to be harmed so they use disposable cloned soldiers instead.
They also believe that as humans are perfect they will always perform better than machines, so in place of computers they use genetically modified brains, or sometimes psionic clones who also double as a handy power source.
This army is also kind of depressing, but who doesn't like a good bit of grimdark?
These were made for a challenge where you had to use a very limited amount of colours, as you can probably tell. Also I was going through a phase where I thought it was a good idea to use lots of randomly placed pixels as shading and make everything look all crinkled and dented. I will admit that I probably didn't pick the best colours :V
Still, I quite like them even if they are a little ugly. They are called Mycar and were meant to be mysterious mushroom people who wander around battlefields collecting scrap metal and turning it into their own vehicles.
They also picked up corpses and covered them with fungus in order to reproduce!
For a while on Picture Wars the in thing was "PPW"; Planetary Picture Wars.
Otherwise known as "tiny space battles".
This is tiny space battles.
After that the trend was just tiny armies, and our regular scale is pretty small to behin with!
Oh and I made my avatar too.
Ok that's all the art I did before joining.
What I have I done since?
Well...
That's the one picture I have drawn since!
Honestly I didn't expect to be very good at mouse drawing but I'm treating it like I would draw a sprite and actually I think they're turning out pretty good. Still not too happy with my eyes or hands, which is why there aren't any hands here.
Feet are also missing just because I'm lazy.
My lecture notes are encrusted with doodles but I'm not going to post them until I get a scanner which will probably be during or after Christmas. Then you can marvel at my skills at both drawing and C programming or mathematics.
I could just take a picture of them but I don't want to.
That's like cheating.
