Nolan is pretty certified to direct blockbusters that aren't terrible movies. Inception isn't hard to understand. Hell, it even had something to discuss at the end. Good movie, wouldn't say great but it was interesting. Shame it didn't have more.. dreamlike things happening.

I loved it as well, I just don't have much to say about it. Okay so the point of the ending wasn't whether the top fell or not; it was that he no longer cared if it fell. Just sayin'

Nolan is pretty certified to direct blockbusters that aren't terrible movies. Inception isn't hard to understand. Hell, it even had something to discuss at the end. Good movie, wouldn't say great but it was interesting. Shame it didn't have more.. dreamlike things happening. I think it was pretty much perfectly balanced with its realism and "magical" elements, as Nolan seems to do with every movie. In the beginning, all I could think was "This is pretty silly" but as the movie plays out, you just accept it. His movies walk a fine line. Okay so the point of the ending wasn't whether the top fell or not; it was that he no longer cared if it fell. Just sayin' Even so, I like to believe that he isn't in a dream and here's why. (also it wobbled)
If he's in a dream, he'll eventually know because the top will just keep on spinning endlessly, whether he still cares or not. Unless he just avoids that spot forever. Anyway, with that knowledge, it's impossible for him to be happy again because his kids are just projections and he knows it. That doesn't seem like an insurmountable problem until you remember that Cobb himself said that projections are only weak imitations of the real thing, and that's just not good enough, hence why he didn't want to stay with Mal in Limbo. The most resilient parasite is an idea. The idea that his real kids, with all their perfections and imperfections, are out there in the real world and he's stuck here with these clones. That potential ending is pretty depressing, which is why I think it's important that Nolan showed the top wobbling, and it's important to know he's not in a dream.
I literally just now thought of all this, so I may be missing some key things that contradict what I said.

I almost made a thread after I saw it in theaters, but I didn't think I'd get many posts sooooooo I heard Inception is pretty bad compared to Paprika. :I That's stupid. Whoever said that is stupid. Looked up Paprika. Sounds too crazy to make sense. Watch it anyway. Animation and music alone make it worth it. Neither of them are bad movies by any standard. Hey, if you guys made a totem, what item would you pick? I'm too indecisive to think of one myself.
