The forum looks a bit stale with the current default skin, and the other skins aren't amazing either. This thread will serve for suggestions regarding new skins, and ideas for new skins. Again, not requests, just ideas, as crazy as they can get.
Everyone state their opinion, how would you like the forum to look?
I'm throwing in my 2 cents to kickstart this: I would like to copy the color scheme from superpaintbrawl.com, gray backgrounds instead of white ones, with white text ofcourse, and replace the Home Help Search etc buttons with ones that look like the ones on the site, or in the same style
ideas go

Gray backgrounds? hmm... I like the blue ones, it's the theme of the site imo. (however, if I get to have this skin I guess no harm is done), but gray seems very... industrial and monotone, not exactly fitting of a site where you draw....'
Soo... that's no ideas really... uh, I guess I really just don't care... why did I post in the first place? I don't... actually know, hope it works out for ya though >.>

Personally, I like the current skin. Making the navigation bar buttons look more like the ones on superpaintbrawl.com would be good though.

Maybe add in custom smileys again? Post icons, etc

I'm not quite sure when we lost the custom smileys, but I don't know how to get them back. I think they were on Rabies' photobucket account. Also I'll see what I can do about transferring the SPB.com color scheme to a skin here.
EDIT: The basics of the SPB.com skin are up. Still needs buttons etc, but the colors are there. Comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Buttons look great for now, but without the sidebanners adding more color to the greyness, it's unbalanced (I make it sound like I know what I'm talking about). Maybe keep it white, but just add new buttons and icons? That way the ones who like the current white/blue scheme won't have to swtich over.
Edit: I could try to do some icons/smilies, MSPaint good enough or should I boot up Photoshap?

Also I'll see what I can do about transferring the SPB.com color scheme to a skin here. A while back someone who had skin permissions showed up and deleted all the skins and custom smileys and custom buttons and the SPB logo (presumably it was InuOrDie, or someone who had the same IP address as her/ him). Thankfully people still had a lot of the shit saved, but we lost the smileys anyway.

Aaaaawright this is looking better and better. I meant to do the buttons for you but you beat me to it. :P
One problem I see, and it was a problem with other skins too: On the main page, all of the buttons get aligned to the left.
We should do a contest for smileys, like we did way back when. Who can draw the best set of smileys, it'd be fun. :D

One problem I see, and it was a problem with other skins too: On the main page, all of the buttons get aligned to the left. Yeah, that's an issue related to one of the header tags in use. Problem is, I have no earthly idea which one. Guess I could attempt it by trial and error, but we use a disgusting number of header tags... We should do a contest for smileys, like we did way back when. Who can draw the best set of smileys, it'd be fun. :D I could go for that. Anyone else want to weigh in?

A contest for smileys sounds great... hell, if we choose individual smileys, we'll have the problem that things will look pretty clusterfuck, but it'll set the tone of SPB better... I dunno, it's nothing I care about, but the contest itself sounds like a cool idea Btw... we didnt have SPB awards this year, did we?

Guess I could attempt it by trial and error, but we use a disgusting number of header tags... ...one of which was expressly designed to left align the menus. What the fuck, (I don't know who to blame but probably elementell)? I dunno, it's nothing I care about, but the contest itself sounds like a cool idea Well, last time everyone put forth a whole batch of smileys, and you voted on them as a group. I figure that would probably be the way to go this time. Btw... we didnt have SPB awards this year, did we? Actually, the sad realization that there wasn't enough activity this past year to justify an awards ceremony was part of what prompted this thread.

Green? Idunno man, too bright. Maybe a grayscale SPB logo for no new posts, and the colored SPB logo when there's new posts.
I'll work on icons/smileys if I find the time, anyway, so expect some new shit soon.
Hey don't get me wrong I'm freaking amazed at how fast this is all coming out. Don't wanna sound ungrateful or something. :S

Green? Idunno man, too bright. Oh, it gets worse Maybe a grayscale SPB logo for no new posts, and the colored SPB logo when there's new posts. That's... actually a really good idea. I'll do that. But you get to live with my hilarious mistakes until then.

Through the magic of transparency, new icons! I've got to head out, so there won't be any further changes for a while (likely through the remainder of the day), but feel free to suggest replacements for the other icons!

As for this smiley thing, I say we should get all those who wish to enter the contest to post in this thread, and then we'll make a new thread with a poll to determine the winner. Or we can do it some way different, suggestions? Also this is what I got so far. Tell me if I'm on the right track. Edit: Looks like Grent fixed the buttons aligning to the left. Nice! Amazing job dude.

It's definately looking delicious, but i think it might have a tad too much grey.

I prefer a white board so pictures drawn in the white void look good without borders.

It's definately looking delicious, but i think it might have a tad too much grey. Any suggestions for where colors should go? I'm a little constrained in proboards, but I'm also looking for ideas for the new site. I prefer a white board so pictures drawn in the white void look good without borders. WELCOME TO THE GREY VOID.

I'm a little constrained in proboards, but I'm also looking for ideas for the new site. This was more-so an idea for the site since I don't know if you can even do this on Proboards, but I was thinking that we could have the different sections on the main page be on wide red/green/blue buttons that match the style of the buttons that MVG made. Might even be cool to do something like that for threads in the sections as well, although I don't know how well that'd work out either. Des was also talking to me about doing the background with blue, green, and red paint splotches, which I think would be a lot cooler than just doing one plain color, and would also provide some color when looking at threads since it might be hard to incorporate color into those without making use of the background. Oh, also, on Entervoid they used to have a sort of, eh, 'title screen' for lack of a better description, where basically before you went to the main page there was a huge logo for the site that you clicked on to enter the site. I always thought that was pretty cool, so maybe we could do something like that for the SPB site.
