Read all about it.Lemme explain the situation. I, being part of a Nintendo hacking community, know never to update my Wii, or else I lose all of my precious hacking materials. Now, modding out a Wii is one step away from piracy, so Nintendo decides to include in all of their updates something that generally blocks and removes all aforementioned hacking firmware on the Wii. However, this latest update did something that went over the line. It not only removed the general hacking devices from the Wii, but it also dug deeper into your Wii and removed a few more things, forcing a brick on your Wii. The problem is, however, if you're a general, non-hacking user of the Wii, your Wii will be affected in the same way, and will be bricked, unable for use. More details about it can be found in the thread linked above. So... updating your Wii... DON'T DO IT.

Lol - 360 is crap/red ring-prone, Wii updates - BUY A PS3, BITCHES. ITS THE SAME COST AS A 360 NOW IF NOT LESS SO LONG AS YOU DON'T INTENTIONALLY BUY THE MOST EXPENSIVE GB MODEL WITH MORE SPACE THAN YOU SHOULD EVER LIVE LONG ENOUGH OR BE INTERESTED IN VIDEO GAMES TO NEED. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE ANYMORE.
(Glad I got one online over the summer, its my only reliable console these days) Well that's unfortunate, dang, its a good thing I don't use my WiFi often or update.
