I heard a forum junkie say once: "my only regret is that I may never meet some of my closest friends."
Because of SPB, I know what he meant.

I heard a forum junkie say once: "my only regret is that I may never meet some of my closest friends." Because of SPB, I know what he meant. Kinda an upside of everyone hating me. This site turned me from little retard who said a meme every 2 seconds into a large retard who says a douchey comment every minute That's a good thing, I swear.

without spb i wouldn't have ever improved in art as fast as i did. This* Sure, I leave for months at a time. But, I guess this place has grown on me. Everyone here was nice to me when I first came here when I was twelve, I'm fourteen now, I wish I could've stayed around alot longer than I did, 'cause I probably missed some cool stuff. My best times here happened back when the chat room was active. Not to mention you guys help give me a sense of humor. For that, I <3 You Gaiz

Although I don't draw much or post much here anymore, without MSPB my internet life would be a LOT different.
I've met some very good friends here (Spawner, Swordkill, Firemario), and thanks to them I got into playing games like Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod, from where I met even more awesome people.
My drawing has also improved tremendously, and to be honest I really should start getting involved here some more. ._.

I've met some very good friends here (Spawner, Swordkill, Firemario), and thanks to them I got into playing games like Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod, from where I met even more awesome people. YEAH FUCK YOU TOO ASSHOLE This. I love this. This is hilarious. WARNING LONG STORY OF THE PAST LEADING UP TO THE PRESENT BELOW. There are hints of why I love MSPB and those who go here. I know its a bit unnecessary to make a huge long story out of all this but I'm going to from my viewpoint. Read at will if you like. I won't yell or complain at you that I wasted about an hour or so typing this. I made that choice. Its best if you stick with the short version of the story. I like how people are friendly here. (Although not all is said back in the olden days) I like how the moderators got a good sense of humor. I like how my art skill has risen. I like how people can be funny as shit sometimes. I like how I can say shit and not get blown away by a hammer. I like the many various artistic people who go here and make drawing even more fun. I like having friends here who can offer advice on how I should improve on my artwork. (Although I would've been an asshole to those people back in the day. Wasn't really much of a fan of people criticizing my arts.) I like how this forum helped me to develope the maturity that runs in the veins of nearly everyone here. I like how most of the old timers still come here. I remember getting involved with MSPB waaay back in 2007 or something. I used to be an annoying little prick (I still am [glow=blue,2,300]kinda[/glow]) who's art skill with MS paint was that of a novice. When I first entered that thread I decided -and I loved to draw no matter what program I used- that it would be fun to draw a person of my own, let him have powers, and let my imagination run free.
Throughout the course of my brawling with those of NGs and my fun adventures I made a few friends along the way. We went on adventures (1-2 unfortunately) of various types. But of course, I did get mocked on some occasions. I started to get comfortable to those who I seen the most and had fun with the most.
I was envious of those who drew better then me and I wanted to better myself so I could draw as well as those people. When (erased name) locked that thread, there was an uproar of madness and chaos that had him in a choke hold. If he hadn't of had that ban hammer the hate and rage would of engulfed him. But he was a man of pure assholery who dabbled in the fine arts of douche baggery.
With one mighty swing of his Ban hammer he annihilated the masses that apposed him. Those who loved him praised him. Those who did not and were as powerful as him secretly plotted his demise. I myself was hit with the hammer but I would've tooken 2 more hits to revive the thread. That thread was a fun way to express one's self through the majesty of art and creation.
Knowing that I would've never been able to post in this fun filled thread of epic yet spammed proportions I retreated back to my User page, sat, and morned. (emotions were a bit more rampant back then). When I felt better I let those (whom I have gotten to know), know about the sad tragedy that had taken place. Few replied with "well a thread is a thread so its gone. No use fighting for it just move on with life.", and had obliterated the ladder of friendship we had established. Many others agreed with me and were filled with anger such as I.
Over the course of a few days A rumor surfaced about one Brawler who was going to work on reviving the thread but shifting it to forum status. This person's name, was Balto-boy. Upon hearing that the forum was established I let those who rode with me on this wild jungle ride know about the new forum. I felt new to everything and started to work my way around stuff.
Bit by bit the old veterins started to appear. Some of the veterins wanted to aid Balto in improving the forum. One user Noted RKThrilla helped us get the chat room that still stands in the sticky'd thread today. Whils't we all mingled in the chat room we offered ideas on how to make the forum better and to attract more users so we can shift our forum from a simple town to a booming city. But as all towns need, are officers. Balto being the Admin hired moderators. Some of our Moderators still go here to this very day. (I call them Jurassic Moderators, its quite obvious isn't it?)
During the course of days our thread pile started to increase. We started to get more users and things looked hopeful. But then we got our first ass. The ass ran unchecked and started to plaster shit everywhere. I was alarmed and didn't know what to do so I followed and shrieked at the ass till one of our moderators got him. Then the holy mod cleaned up the messes the ass (and me from posting so much) left behind and order followed.
Over the next few months I kept being an asshole and I wasn't exempt from the Ban hammer of a thousend Smites. I got slapped hard across the face and knocked out the door. Course I wasn't going to take this so I zipped on over to NG and talked to Balto. He did me a solid and unbanned me. But I got banned like 2 more times and Balto was nice enough to turn a blind eye. But the last ban I got I decided it was time for me to take it. I decided to work in paint for a few days -banned for 3 days- and my skill was increasing.
After the ban I returned and harmony settled in my Emotion coffin.
[I'm formulating why I like this place while writing this]
One day everything just didn't feel right. It felt...kinda boring. Then I found a new website that was fun and left for time on end. But then that nagging feeling from the back of my head got me to come back. So I did. Things have changed some and there was new people to ally with.
Jacob had came and the entire forum went to hell. Its like spikes going everywhere but then when the little green dot shows up all the spikes points at him to prevent him from entering yet the other green dots can come in. Reason being cause he couldn't draw, he was an asshole, and a bastard. I'm sure if he had followed the same route as me he would be able to draw alot better this day. People had offered him advice but he didn't listen most of the time. Others -coughragebloodcough- were asses to him and mocked him more then once on how he drew.
I offered him the hand of friendship and he accepted. I felt sorry for him cause of the torment he faced from those who shunned him. Nobody should EVER be made fun of cause of how they draw. Its like laughing at the disabled, its not funny and you'll go to hell for it. I admit I did shun him to from time to time. But I also was nice from time to time also.
Upon learning about my ethinicity he went completely batshit and flamed and insulted me. I retaliated and let my brain and knowledge take over. After a period of a few days he was banned from the forum and my iron shell was polished. I didn't hate him for what he said but it did irritate the fuck out of me.
One day when I came on I couldn't open the door. I pulled and kicked and ran into the door but it wouldn't budge. So I went into the chat room and waited, waited, and waited some more then someone came in and more people showed up. Turns out everyone's account was deleted. I was angry that all the things I had posted and stuff was gone forever.
People thought Elementell did it -due to his obssesiveness with being a complete loli-rific douche. And other mishaps he had caused in the past when he was a moderator- or Madvideogamer -for his account being caught in the crossfire.-
I introduced one of my friends I knew I.R.L. to the site -koogo or something-.
I left the site again on hiatus.
Came back due to the nagging feeling.
Left again. Came back and have been back. Why would I make such a long story? Cause I feel like sharing a slate of words and pictures that have been slowly carved and printed into my mind from past times to the present.
I would've shared more but I think this is enough and you get the point.

MVG nailed it pretty hard for me, but I'll speak anyway.
It's nice to be in a community, but at the same time I'm not some faceless user among a million others. You guys actually know me, and I know you. I also like how you guys grew along with me. Your art improved, so did mine (a lot), we changed over time, you guys got me into things I might not have bothered checking out otherwise.
...At the same time, however, I think you guys may have ruined me. Nononono, it's okay, I still love you all, it's just that I feel like you have a right to know. For one thing, I don't wanna really draw or post anywhere else. I'm accustomed to the idea of a smaller community that I'm basically friends with, so sites like Newgrounds just make me never want to post. Ever. Too impersonal. Hurm.
Let's say for instance, Newgrounds. I went back there a bit ago, checked out General again, to see what it was like. Annnnnnd I honestly couldn't stand it, I didn't want to post, didn't want anything to do with the forum. Sure, sometimes people here can bug me, but at least I know who's bugging me, not some random guy among many other random guys posting in a thread and no one has any idea who they are, they just came here, and we're ignoring them mostly.
Except for that one clever post. You quote it, try to add on. They'll see that good post, and yours pretty much glued to it like "hey, look at me, I'm cool too". But they're just gonna forget about you the next day anyway. It's not like that here.
tl;dr- Friends, art, ideas, recognition and familiarity

Frankly, I can see SPB as a webcomic akin to Questionable Content, albeit with constant breaks from artist banter to epic OC battles.

More stuff to add. (Totes legit yo).
I also love MSPB because no matter how long of an absence I take, I find myself getting drawn back here. Every, time. This place has put a hex on me, and it's a hex I can't break. Hell, even if the site lasted for 40 years and I took a 20 yr break, I'm sure I'd pop in again for old times sake to see all the old users who managed to hone their art skills to their preferred max dishin' out the carnage on the new users, while they go "OH MY GAWD! LOOK AT HIS ART SKEELZ! YOU AH MAH NEW FAVORIT USAR!!"
And to think, we all use to draw like that >example here<, a long time ago. Guess it's to be expected since we did follow out passion for drawing.
The other reasons include what everyone above me (including my past me) said about why we kinda(?) like MSPB. I hope this site is still here 20 years from now with an increased user base. We've up'd our user count before, I'm sure we can do it again.
Although indirectly at times, this place has helped to shape me growing up. Coming here day by day to hang out, talk, and brawl with the other users on this forum, as well as receive advice on how to act and how not to act, (You know, to be more acceptable to a forum setting), have also helped and making me the Nitro you see today. Art skills and all. The rest was just natural maturation on my part.
Sure my sense of humor is a bit floppy (It depends on how well I know you. Expect hell if I don't. You don't gotta tip-toe as I can pick up on most, but it depends on if you're actually throwing your shit down and trying to get in my face), but I guess it all depends on how you look at things. I did get called out a lot in the past, and most of that was my fault, but hey, the past is represented by the scars of the present. Whether they be good or bad. I dunno if I'm just rambling on at this point, and if that has to do with anything, but the point I'm trying to make lies in that short story I told in the spoiler a few posts above this one.
So yeah, why do you Kinda (Whoa!) like MSPB? I'm sure you all have something new to add, even if its a little bit of information.
Also insert stuff here about how MSPB has helped me become a better drawer and how I don't like to draw in any other program EXCEPT for MSPaint. It more or less set the foundation and paved the way for my passion for drawing.
When I see other users drawings I think, "Wow, that's pretty good!" And I start wanting to draw like that. In fact, my style consists of a couple of other user styles that have come along this site. My eyebrows (The hook shaped arcs) come from Undeadlaw, and the shining is taking a bit from Destructin's way of highlighting his stuff. It just looks good. The explosion effects were a try at how MC Jesus does things, but I looked at explosions online and see how most of them look. And the zoom effect (Box with sharp black filled cones) came from Spud. I like how him and Luzu use those thin lines to describe motion, it makes it easier to follow the action the picture is portraying. You can tell if I add a whole lot more lines then usual.
