Candy brought a very good point.
Character concept thread is for concepts for characters, but one thing I hate the most is stupid characters that are ridiculous and unnecessary. So I have brought this thread for approvals.
I'd say we connect Concept with approvals but idk..
Anyway, lets see if this works.

I still think the entire "oh hey you need to get your character approved before you can use it" is dumb.

This is an ok idea, but I think the main point he was trying to get at is that if someone actually works on a character, say a background, attacks, looks, its going to get pretty disappointing for that person if people tell them that they can't use it.
Especially if a lot of work into it, they should be allowed to use it.
Just saying what I got what he meant from that post

I still think the entire "oh hey you need to get your character approved before you can use it" is dumb. I have to agree. I work really hard on all my characters, it would kill me to just get told "NO GO AWAY YOU HAVE TOO MANY". Does it even really matter so much how many Brawlers a person has anymore? I don't think anyone (besides McJ) is gonna go up to 60+ or something. HOWEVER, I think this thread could stay, just if it got some tweaking. Let's say you thought up a Brawler, but you wanna know if anyone finds it overpowered or not (or something like that). You don't have to get rid of the character if someone does, of course, it would just be like some advice for tweaking and stuff. Just a thought.

I have to agree with this, there are a couple characters I have made but not posted because I wanted to find some way to do just that.

I think the point getting character approval is so people don't add 20 characters with idiotic ideas that they just brainshitted into existence. Also, even if you put a lot of thought into characters, if you're going to have an extra 30 characters that you'll use no more than once or twice, if at all, then maybe you should slow down on the character creation and put more thought into characters that you already have so you're more likely to use them. You shouldn't have to force yourself to use characters just so you have an excuse to leave them around. Remember when I added like 20 characters with retardedly generic powers and designs? That's why there's character approval thread. Even if there are those who put a lot of thought into characters, it's not that hard to post it in concept art thread or this Character Approval thing and wait for two or three people to say "cool". If anything it'll help people notice and acknowledge your character more.

Red is right. We don't need people with 20 retarded characters running around when they could have a few good ones.... that is what you said right?
Maybe this thread could be for people with more than 10-15 chars? since most only have around 5 at most?
I believe I have 7 at the moment, and the only other character Ideas I have at the moment I feel I need some approval of anyway.

At that point the character concept thread is going to be more useful because it's a concept. An idea. Not an entire brawler.
You're gonna get the sort of people that do that, though. Anyone worth their salt isn't, because they realize that shitting out 20 generic characters isn't anywhere near as good as sitting down and thinking up one or two good characters. The people that start shitting out characters for the sake of shitting out characters or "omg all these ideas are so awesome!!!!" are the sorts of people that aren't going to be accepted into the community in the first place. Thus nullifying the need for the Approval thread in the first place.

I'd say pretty much any version of this thread that people would be okay with fits somewhere in the description of concept art.

I might as well make this thread a bit useful by posting this here. Character Idea, Outlaw. Good idea? should I make some tweaks?

I might as well make this thread a bit useful by posting this here. Character Idea, Outlaw. Good idea? should I make some tweaks? DryChris' main character already has the power to shoot bullets from his fingers. Also, maybe you should use the characters you already have before making more, since, as far as I know, you've only used 2 of your ten or so characters.

I just read his character. I don't think I'll add Outlaw to my roster officially yet, mostly because I already have 7 characters, not including Jess's alternate forms. Although I'm thinking of taking out Abby, I've only used her once in a thread that ended up dying before it started. I'm not sure if you know about that thread Red X.
In my opinion the power is the same as his, but DryChris's main character has a whole assortment of other powers along with it, plus Outlaw is more like a narcissist guy who keeps to himself while DryChris is nicer and seems to be less evil.
Still keeping him off for the time being, that is at least until I use most of my characters in matches.

Oh boy, I made a new character! Also, I haven't drawn mild-mannered Miles yet, since I can't seem to draw a not-boring normal design for him, so here's his hero/villain costumes.

Honestly, there's no reason for this thread that isn't covered in concept art. Anyone who puts shitty characters through is going to do so whether we tell them they can or not.
