This was brought up in the Concept Art thread, but it was agreed between myself and another member that it would do best in its own thread for the attention.
So, discuss what you think standards for an "average" brawler should be. This in no way should be an actual average of what brawlers should be, but rather a balanced standard upon which brawlers' powers can be compared. It should also not be limited to just things like strengths and weaknesses, but also characteristics like height.
Personally, I think the average male brawler should be 6' ( ~1.83m )or more (average height for males in the major countries members seem to reside in is approximately 5'10" [ ~1.78m ]). Brawlers are a lot like superheroes, and therefore, in my opinion, taller than a civilian. Maybe not by much, maybe by a bit more. Following this, female brawlers should be roughly 5'7", maybe as tall as 5'10" (~1.7-1.78m) (averages in life being close to 5'5"[~1.56m])
I went to research average human strength, and it seems "average" is being able to lift up to one's own weight. So, naturally, brawlers should be able to do "above average", which is at least their own body weight and up to roughly double their body weight. I would guess the average brawler should be able to lift at least up to one and a quarter, maybe one and a half times their body weight, up to two and a quarter (or two and a half if we choose half) times their body weight.
Now, average body weight for the adult male in the US (as of '99-'02) is ~190 lb (86.6kg). Brawlers, being more buff than the average citizen, should probably be 215-225lb (~97.5-102kg). For females, the average is 164lb(~74.4kg), ergo female brawlers should be 175-200lb (~79.4-90.7kg)?
Beyond this, I've not done research, nor can I think of any other characteristics to "average-ify". Thoughts?

Everyone seems to be able to pull weapons out of their ass even if they don't have it as a power, I think the average brawler must also have some kind of hammerspace access.

And what about those brawlers that aren't human?
all these "Average standards" pretty much limit ones imagination when creating a brawler. So I disagree with all of this.
We haven't had any real porblems with alot of the brawlers created, why start resticting people now?

Following this, female brawlers should be roughly 5'7", maybe as tall as 5'10" (~1.7-1.78m)This amuses me because I'm roughly that height. Height and weight I honestly don't see as important enough to worry about keeping a certain standard on. I know it's supposed to be related to strength, but yeah. Keep in mind some Brawlers are strong even if they're not all I LOVE BEING STRONG buff and shiz. We haven't had any real porblems with alot of the brawlers created, why start resticting people now? It's not really a restriction, Candy is just trying to figure out what qualifies as "averages" with characteristics for Brawlers. Specifically, what constitutes as "stronger than the average Brawler". . .that phrase could use some clarification. I wanna say the typical Brawler could lift twice or three times their weight, easy.

We haven't had any real porblems with alot of the brawlers created, why start resticting people now? Non-human brawlers can still be compared to human standards. They're also a lot easier to understand and you don't have to explain the alien race you made up in order to explain the standards you have set. And how does this limit creativity and imagination? All I aim to do with this is create a concrete idea for when someone says "stronger than your average brawler", "faster than your average brawler", etc.,. This does not mean that everyone needs to change their character, rebalance it, or anything. All it's doing is giving an stable standard to compare to, rather than a shifting, unknown "idea". And it's not anything that's explicitly a problem, it's more of a clarification as to what one would mean when they say "x-er than an average brawler".

How strong would a brawler have to be to be able to throw someone through several buildings?
Since, y'know, just about everyone can do that.

I think what "stronger than the average brawler" means is that if it came down to pure strength vs strength, the one who has "stronger than the average brawler" would win.

This doesn't stop that from happening, it just gives it slightly more of a quantifiable value, although "stronger than x" is still extremely vague.

Well, my main character is pretty fat, do I have to send him to some camp now so he'll get thinner?

Honestly I think some people have misunderstood the purpose of this thread. Nobody is asking anyone else to change their character, this is just to provide a more solid definition to aid description (and also add a bit more background flavour to brawl city)
